If you can live without that so-called music, it can be turned off in the options menu . . . fortunately, I've never heard the screeching you described, but if it isn't a fault in your sound system, it should vanish with the boom-da-da-boom-da-da-bum.

On the Menu screen, behind the music there is a persistent screeching noise; it sounds like "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...." Sorry I don't know how to relate it onomatopoeically via this context.

All my drivers are up to date and I don't have this problem with other programs.

Are you sure the sound comes from your spreakers? It might be cooling fans running at full blow, which is often the case with Railworks, even on the menu screens or when browsing the Workshop and such.

Are the speakers USB or connected by RS Jacks?
On USB speakers you can get a sort of background noise in certain programs.
Speakers connected by Jacks may need re-siting/repositioning?? !*don-know!*
Move anything metallic/magnetic near the speakers or PC?
Not sure if anything else might cure your onomatopoetic cacophony !*roll-laugh*!
