Canadian hopper pack

Unread postby CPRailfan34 » Tue Apr 07, 2015 4:09 pm

I had this pack for some time now and have noticed that only two of the cars ave working auto numbering, plus the actual folders contain an image of the Alberta heritage car as well. The Alberta car isn't included in the pack. !*don-know!*

here is an image of the cars.

It's the Canadian hoppers pack and can be found here on the railwork site and I am having trouble with the numbers showing up on three of the cars, for sound reason they show up with grey bars instead of numbers and the pack is missing the Alberta car.

The reason for this is that the wagon bin files for those three hoppers are looking for this file.. "RailVehicles\Freight\HS-Cylindrical\Shared\Numbers\Digits_yellow.xml" which are not in the shared folder.
I suspect the author may have made his own and forgot to add them as per the Alberta car.
I suggest you contact the author to clarify...PM here at RWA or email as below.

Well...there are a couple of ways you can get around this.
If you are knowledgeable with modifying bin files you can change the string to point to the white texture on the three files concerned.

Find and change this line: <BlueprintID d:type="cDeltaString">RailVehicles\Freight\HS-Cylindrical\Shared\Numbers\Digits_yellow.xml</BlueprintID>

To this: <BlueprintID d:type="cDeltaString">RailVehicles\Freight\HS-Cylindrical\Shared\Numbers\Digits_prr-wh.xml</BlueprintID>

Okay, you will have white numbers instead of yellow....better than grey bars.
The other option is you can create your own textures as what I did ( pic below ). I use these for my own use and have no intention of uploading, therefore did not have to ask for permission from Michael ( GreatNortherner ) to modify existing textures or from Amtrack505 to modify his work .

cool does your work actually have Auto numbering? Unfortunately I'm not much of a modifier in railworks, but i do use repaints. I want learn to repaint rolling stock and i'd like to see if i can create the proper color auto numbering textures like you did. The Alberta car? looks like its a total loss if Amtrack505 is no longer with the railworks america community. I still find it odd that he included an image of the car even though its not there. actually I was searching what if i copied the gold numbering XML and textures files from the steam era folder and got the texture grabber to grab those ones?

Here are repaired bins so all the auto numbering ought to work. https://www.sugarsync.com/pf/D6076927_61647600_6672038

Where did you find this mysterious Alberta car? It's not in the pack I downloaded.

I only have an image of the repaint buzz, that's what I mean by its missing. Amtrack just happened to forget to package the Alberta car and the custom yellow numbers for the shared folder. But I'll give the repaint a try myself, I have the Alberta logo done for placing in the psd file as GIMP will read the files. But am stuck on how to get started Ik you have to creat a copy of the default folder in Great Northern's hopper and have his repainting kit. I can change the color of the car easily but that's as far as I can go. any tips?

Thanks for the fix, Buzz, but where do these hoppers install? In other words, where should the fix be applied?

Replace the existing bins with the ones I provided.
