X Box Controller question

Just started with TS2015 after several years with Trainz and lately Run 8. Enjoying very much so far, but I do have one question. I got an X box controller and I notice that the throttle control, when activated causes quite a bit of movement in the throttle. I have lowered the sensitivity in the menu, but that didn't seem to help. One click changes the throttle position from say 0 to 37% for instance. Is this just the way it works with the X box controller?

Hey Bob. I think it varies on how each loco is setup as I've had some hardly move while some are over sensitive. Usually I have no issues though.

Stephen.

Yeah...I use the Xbox 360 controller since I get mixed results with my Raildriver in this sim. The trick with the Xbox controller is to do very quick and brief taps of the triggers and bumpers to hit each of the throttle notch points more accurately. Same with brakes (which aren't notched). Takes a little practice but you'll get the hang of it.

I always keep my mouse active just for the things that are tedious with the controller like uncoupling cars. Navigating the menus with TS2014 was pretty easy with a controller. It's a royal pain in the butt with the new TS2015 menus, so the mouse comes in handy here.

Basic rule of thumb... if it's very hard or impossible to do with the controller, use the mouse or keyboard to manipulate those functions. I mainly use the controller for throttle, brakes, switching camera views and manipulating the free roam camera. I do most everything else with the mouse and keyboard.
