Problem with Class 37/4 loco included with West Highland Ext. Route

Unread postby OldProf » Thu Dec 04, 2014 7:30 pm

As of a few days ago, I am unable to place the Class 37/4 loco included with the West Highland Extension route while writing a scenario. Specifically, the moment I click on this engine in the assets fly-out, TS1500 freezes and effectively crashes to the desktop. When this first occurred, I was editing a scenario that I have been working on for several weeks, in which I had already successfully placed 3 examples of this engine. Now, attempting to place this engine in any scenario, including an otherwise empty, newly created one, causes the freeze/crash just described.

Here's what I have tried so far: I have deleted examples of blueprints.pac several times, verified the cache four times, first deleting the engine's files before the cache verification. The problem persists.

At this point, I would first like to know whether anyone else has encountered this specific problem. Please do not use this thread to rant about any other situations. If you have experienced this specific problem and solved it, please let me know the steps you took to do so. If you have encountered problems other than this one, you have my sympathy but please start your own thread.

No, I have not yet contacted RSC. I prefer to turn first to the experienced scenario writers who belong to this forum and who do not send me repeated, generic, worthless messages without ever suggesting a specific solution.

Further information: Although the 37/4 loco does show up in the correct RW Assets folders (mostly buried in an AP), the route folder itself is nowhere to be found and the route does not appear in RW_Tools. This morning, I unchecked the route in Steam-RSC-DLC and initiated a cache verification.

Tom
That route appears in RW-Tools "find all ap files" under content with the first id numbers being fdb376f and of course you won't see the route in other parts of RW_tools until you unpack the .ap file itself. I can't help you with the other problems.

Thanks for the tip, Peter. I really do not feel comfortable messing around with AP files. Someday, I really ought to start, I imagine, but that won't be now.

EDIT: Just checked my installation's Content/Routes folder & there's no route that begins with fdb376f. !*don-know!*

Tom,
Do you have 7zip? All you have to do is right click on the .ap and say extract here.

Tom, .ap files are just zip files.

The only thing special with them is the way the game engine uses them.
When there is a link to a file in a blueprint, the engine will:
1) try to open the file at the path provided in the link;
2) if the file doesn't exist, try to find it at the same path inside any .ap file in the provider/product folder.

Tom
Open STEAM - right click on TS2015 - "View Downloadable Content" look for the route - is it ticked?
If Not - tick it - exit steam restart and the route will load.
If it is ticked - untick it - exit steam
Restart steam and tick the route, and it will load - I would wait until its over gefore starting TS2015
If it is not in View downloadable content - and you have paid for it - contact STEAM.
