New CV gp9 and DH gp9 problem with textures.

Unread postby Railroy19 » Sun Nov 30, 2014 6:54 am

I downloaded the new repaints of the GP-9's and when I load them on the tracks they show up with the missing textures look.
Did I forget to copy some geopc files?
They both work ok but they don't have the right colors:)
What did I do wrong now!

Thanks,
Bob

If they show up the Geo files are there. Some of the texture files are missing.

What can I do to remedy this?
Should I redownload the files?

I'm having this same problem with the GP9s. All the original paint jobs in the GP9Pack01 look just fine, but every repaint from multiple artists have texture issues, you pic the artist.... It's broke, including the normally stable NERW GP9.... Strange.... DTGs work.... Everyone else's is broke????

Glad to see it's not just me again having problems.
I have no picture but the engines show all white with the missing textures showing on the engines.
Had the same problem with the Vermont freight cars too.

You must use the GeoPcDx file from the CN version for the textures to show up on the CV2. I have the DH working using the GN Geo but so far no numbers.

Thanks Buzz456
That worked for me I now have the CV engine showing up very nice.
I will now try the DH engine and see what turns up.Well this worked also and I have numbers showing up .
I don't know how you people figure out how to fix these problems, I sure appreciate your efforts.

OK, new plan. From here on out, I'm going to follow the "RTFI" rule....promise.

I originally used the "default" engine and cabview geo files.....
I should have used:

For:

NERW GP9 = GP9/CN
NS GP9 = GP9/Rio
Rock Rusty GP9 = GP9/ROCK
SPv1 Rusty Black GP9 = SPv1 Engine/Default cabview
SPv1 Rusty Red GP9 = SPv1 Engine/Default cabview

...lesson learned...

What I still don't really understand is that you would think that these Geos should all be the same other than periodic updates by RSC/DTG would be changing the the default and other offerings from the death star while leaving the third party stuff alone since it generally doesn't recognize that stuff. If we always modeled off of the default it would work maybe................... Your solution is the best.

Agreed about the "default" buzz...

I could see a different geo "if" there were physical differences in the GP9's, say a different horn placement. But in this case, they are the same across the board best I can tell.... Or give them different file names to differentiate them.....just saying....

I've done a lot of skinning and file manipulation with the geeps from day one. The difference in the geo's from loco to loco is the number location, size, 3 to 4 digits or dynamic brakes or not. Hope this helps clear things up. !*salute*!

I don't know if you have solved this yet or not, but mine had the same problem until I did one thing. For DH I went into the GN folder and copied everything in the texture folder and pasted them into DH, hitting 'skip' for any file that is already in there. I did the same for CV and the CN texture folder. Mine now look like this:
