trying to alias a locomotive

Unread postby CSX5202 » Thu Nov 13, 2014 2:13 pm

So after the gracious help of a few members in this forum, I have finally aliased That certain SD40-2! however, the CSX pack available from the railworks store is giving me trouble now. I'm trying to make it sound like a true SD70 from the SD70 710 sound pack found here on RWA file library. I have tried to alias it, by taking the XML file, the sounds, and even modifying the .BIN file. But to no avail. It worked for the other SD70's in the SD70 packs (SD70 pack 1,2,3). But, not for the specific CSX SD70mac. Any ideas on how to change the sounds? *!question!* !*hp*!

I'm not the master at this, but I know for the most part on how to make the sounds work. You probably have done this, I just want to make sure so it is clear before anything else. Have you unzipped the .AP file and made sure that the folders are properly placed? If they are properly placed you can take out the .AP file then and just have the files like I did. Then you need to make everything not Read Only. I imagine you've done this. If it is still not working, are you getting no sounds or just the default?

I'm just getting the default sounds for it. So tomorrow, I'll remove the .AP file. Now how do I change it from read only?

You NEVER need to delete the .ap file.
And it will come back anyway if you perform a local files verification in Steam.

I just remove the .AP after unzipped because there is two versions of the file now, one default, one your version, and it could be thinking it needs to use the default one from the .AP

If the file has the same name it will always look for the un-zipped one if it's there and will not look at the .ap.

Right click on the file, go to properties and uncheck the read only box.

So, I did what buzz said to do. However, no success at all. I've gone into the .bin file and changed the provider to RSC, and changed the sound to SD70Pack03. that pack has the 710 sound upgrade found here in the file library. I have also tried to take the sound files, as well as the xml files that came along with it. But again, no success at all. I'm getting really frustrated. All because it now sounds like default SD70mac. I'd hate to ask, but can anybody check to see what I've done wrong? thanks in advance
