Memory.



I've noticed that TS2015 doesn't release memory after closing. It was tolerable in TS2013, manageable in TS2014, but now it's down right annoying. After running TS2013 or TS2014, I used to be able to start another program, such as 3DS Max, shut it down, and allow that program to close any open loops in RAM. In TS2015, however, I'm forced to restart my PC in order to get all memory back, otherwise, subsequent starts of TS2015 or another program are likely to produce BSDs. Starting old copies of TS still allow me to do what I was used to, so I don't believe it to be my PC that's at fault.

FWIW, I'm running XP-SP3 32 bit. Old, yes, but I'm not ready to jump on the Win7/8 bandwagon just yet.

I haven't been seeing any real signs of a memory leak, but I'm on win7 64-bit, so that may be part of what's going on.

Have you tried clearing the cache? I wouldn't suggest that you join the 21st century since xp was introduced in 2001.

I'm not having problems on 7 x64. Not with memory anyways.

Hmmmm they said no more support for XP some time ago. RSC had announced that somewhere.

Windows 9 is coming soon. Maybe that's your lucky number Marc.

That doesn't explain the memory issues. An updated 32 or 64-bit OS is nothing more than a band aid for a program that should release all resources to begin with. IMHO, that's just poor programming, and sticking it to XP users is a cop out.

Just like jwtheiv, Im not seeing any problems. Running win7 64bit.

I'm not experiencing this problem under Windows 8.1 (although the interface is still driving me batty).

You can replace the interface with a hybrid of TS2014 and TS2015 that is much better for old eyes - see the first post on this page by Holz (JustRight) http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 0&start=30 .

While building a route, I go in and out of the sim several times during the course of the day. I usually reboot about half way through the day as the system resources are usually at 0 by then. I do not experience any problems however, I just do it to prevent any.

Nah, Windows 10. We'll be skipping 9, as announced yesterday my Microsoft.

We just switched to win7 at work when support ended for xp. Now they announce 10 will actually have a start button. In about ten years when they discontinue support for win7 themselves can upgrade again. They sure missed their chance with business this time around.

Do you realize that XP only supports 512 meg of ram? Sorry to say this but its time for a new computer that will handle the simulator. I am running a 8 core I7 on windows 8.1 with enough video card and ram to run everything wide open and the fact is I got sick and tired of issues from older systems not keeping up. Now I can enjoy the game or simulator without dealing with any issues.

I'm not sure where you got that idea, but unless you're referring to Win-XP Starter, your statement is incorrect.

Besides which, and as I indicated above, I had few issues until TS2015. Even with TS2013 and TS2014 I was able to run Google Earth, multiple browser windows, Paint Shop Pro, Photoshop and 3DS Max all at the same time without too much fuss. Now I'm lucky if I can open Notepad while TS2015 is running.
