tracks.bin Error + Where are the Standard Scenarios

Hi, it is my first time on this forum. Whenever I try to load a Career scenario in TS2014 (New York - New Haven in this case) an error pops up that says Tracks.bin cannot be loaded. All I did to the .ap file for the route was install Fan Railer's physics upgrades to the ACS-64. How can I fix the problem?

Standard scenarios seem to be fine, tested with the Class 377 introduction on London-Brighton.

Also, why are there no more Standard Scenarios? DTG seems to only make Career scenarios in the new DLC lately.

I can't help you with the physics change but I can recommend a fix for the Career only scenarios. If you clone the route and scenarios in the editor, you can then use a text editor, such as 'Context' , to change the value in each career scenarioproperties.xml file from career to standard scenario.
e.g. <ScenarioClass d:type="cDeltaString">eCareerScenarioClass</ScenarioClass> (change to 'Standard')

Are the career scenarios really the problem? I WANT to play the career scenarios, but the problem still pops up. I know the Standard scenarios have no problem at all.

Just curious, but why did RSC/DTG stop making Standard and Free Roam scenarios? They were fun for screwing around with trains.

This is usually cured by the "Hit F-2 and save" equation. Then the scenario will suddenly run, and usually runs fine after that.
I have to admit though, it seems Dovetail has set thing up to thwart fixing things.

There were one or two others that posted about this error happening after installing that physics mod. You could try and send FanRailer a private message, see if there was a solution. Doing a "file verify" of the game's files will return that missing tracks.bin, but might also erase that physics mod.

DTG/ RSC do NOT like folks messing with the Career scenarios, I'm not sure if a mod like that is something that would cause issues. I'll presume not, but you never know. Turning off scoring in the game settings will eliminate that part of the career stuff. Look in the Steam/ Railworks Workshop, and the file library here, for hundreds more scenarios, too. And there's always Quick Drive/ Custom QD for just plain old driving and messing around.

@arizonachris There is absolutely no way I would screw around with the Career scenarios. I actually never touched the scenarios themselves. This problem actually came up when installing the ACS-64 physics mod (Possibly sound mod also), which is supposed to not affect the career gameplay. However, the loco is perfectly fine on Quick Drive (Tested on both NY-NH and Phila-NY routes).

That's a choice DTG made and announced when TS 2014 came out.
They introduced the new career mode and achievements, so of course they support it with career scenarios.
Adding standard scenarios would mean duplicating all career scenarios, which is extra work for DTG.
Instead, they let you do that by disabling scoring, as arizonachris said.

Mods won't always affect all career scenarios for a particular loco, which has been puzzling me.
I've got some brake mods for the DDA40X almost ready, that I've been testing, and only one career scenario got bungled because of the mods, I think. But the other career scenarios are fine for some reason.
In my case it seemed to foul up the "Business Tour" one.... Unless it was coincidence, and it was actually one of the many DTG updates they've been doing recently.

I had to hit F2 and save, but then I played the scenario and got a gold star.
I failed that one the first couple of times, because the timetable only showed up in the map view, but not when hitting F1 in the main window. I didn't realize it was even a timetabled scenario the first two times I ran it. !*roll-laugh*!

This is what Mark Pullinger posted on UKTS:
Hi, that message (ie tracks.bin) is TS2014's polite way of telling you that some of your stock is non standard, ie modded so can't be used with career scenarios
!!det!!
It would appear in some (not all cases as Eric M says) that if you mod any of the stock used in a career scenario it may not work. **!!bang!!**

Like Chris _ I turn off scoring for career scenarios but you can still get, the naughty corner inane comments, a red cross or the scenario can even close early if you don't keep to the timetable, stop in the right place, or cough discreetly. Of course with the TS2014 editor you can't usually edit a Career scenario, so the only way I know to get around that is to clone the career scenario to a standard one in RW_Tools and then use the TS2014 editor to remove the comments and any restrictions that could end the scenario prematurely. Meanwhile you haven't run any trains in the last 3 years :D .
