Changing a switch position

Could someone explain how to change the position of a switch track on an estblished route so that it remains in the new position permanently? In other words, I don't want to have to set switches every time I run a specific scenario I created.

Manual switches can be clicked on to be thrown in the scenario editor so that they are set the way that you want them when you start the scenario. It is easiest to do this on the route map.

Thanks Crimson but maybe I didn't explain the issue clearly or I'm not understanding your reply.
I have Northeast Corridor and like to run trains out of Philadlphia on the Spirit of Transportation scenario. That yard has a lot of switches that need to be set in order to get on the main track. I change consists often, so saving a scenario isn't going to solve the problem since every time I make a change the switches default to the original positions. How do I get the switches to stay where I set them?

You need to open the Spirit of Transportation scenario in the scenario editor, hit F9 to go to the 2D map, and set the switches as you want them.
Then hit F2 to save the scenario. You have now changed the default positions for the switches.

Now every time you start this scenario the switches will be like you want.
