Game crashes when I use the world editor and make a change and save it

Unread postby Scott » Sun Jun 08, 2014 10:16 am

So i made some changes to the Pacific Surfliner route with a crossing signal and I save it and it crashes. Does anyone know what to do? I never had this happen before.

First thing I would try is doing a search for that "PONtrack.bin" file. Follow the instructions in the fourth post down. If you don't see the option to open a command prompt, hold "shift" while right clicking (thanks, Chacal!)

Do I just delete the PONtrack file? And what else do I do after that?

I even did a reinstall and the issue persists only in Pacific Surfliner. I even tried on Stevens Pass and it didn't crash, this is ridiculous.

The released version of Surfliner contains a track bug that can only be solved by traversing from one end to the other and editing track every 1000m or so (just a small section, but leave the signals and other interactives alone), save and then continue on to the end. Took me quite a while to wring out all the issues when I did the ScaleRail conversion. Not all track needs to be adjusted, just one piece within the 1k range mentioned.

The problem arises whenever you lay track and go too far between saves.

How are you editing? All you need to do is use the select tool, select a small section of track, click off without making any changes, and finally press F2 to save.

Try expanding/extracting all the files in the route's AP file before editing and see if that helps.

I did edit the track and made no changes and press f2 to save. When I extract the assets from the ap file why is there a second Pacific Surfliner folder with empty folders? I should double check on the ap files.

Sorry - I forgot there are two. You have to extract the MainContent.ap from the route folder, not the one in the Asset directory.
