Seattle Sub route missing rolling stock

Unread postby wongsing » Mon May 19, 2014 8:05 pm

I just purchased the final version of the new eyein Seattle route earlier today and wow, what an awesome looking route!

However, I can't seem to run hardly any of the scenarios due to massive amounts of rolling stock missing. Does anyone else have the same problem? Also, the details below will hopefully help anyone with knowledge how to help me...

-Yes, I have been emailing back and forth to Ian about this and I'm feeling kinda bad about having so many problems on my end with his stuff (I'm sure its the fault of my computer and complexity of TS2014)

-Some of the scenarios call for Sherman Hill and Ian's own payware rolling stock (i.e: SD60's, Dash 8 widecab, etc.) I currently own the SD60 spartan cab, GP60 pt 1., Dash 8 widecab, SOO Line route, as well as 2 Rich Garber routes (which call for some scenery assets).

-I did follow the instructions very closely am still having broken consists and scenarios that don't work.

Any help with this would be GREAT! What an awesome route...Just sucks that I can't seem to get it working the way it should despite my best efforts **!!bang!!**

Thank you for any insight!

On the scenario "Intermodal Work - Default" for instance, here is the missing items according to RW Tools

Missing items:-

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\Assets\Kuju\RailSimulatorUS\railvehicles\diesel\sd40-2\bnsf\engine\sd40_2_bnsf.bin
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\Assets\JCornell\EMD\railvehicles\diesel\gp38-2\furx\engine\gp38-2.bin
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\Assets\Kuju\RailSimulatorUS\railvehicles\freight\covered_hopper\crle4\wagon\covered_hopper.bin

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\Assets\Kuju\RailSimulatorUS\railvehicles\diesel\sd40-2\default\engine\sd40_2.bin

Many of these files are missing from the other scenarios too. I have only found 2 of the scenarios to work so far that were included with this route. What is bothering me is how many of these files say "default" in them. Not exactly sure how they won't work as I haven't removed or modified any of the default stock.

Also, realize that these are not the ONLY files missing, these are only the files missing from one scenario. RW Tools would be running all night listing all of the missing rolling stock from this route. I don't mind having to download every piece of stock this route needs, but it would be great to have a list of what is missing and where to get it.

Again, any help would be great. This is a fun looking route but I can't seem to get any scenarios to run.

Most of that is in the US loco & asset pack. That "stuff" should be in TS2012 or one of the routes prior to TS2012. (says "default" because all that used to be default) But I also see Justin Cornell's GP38-2 (maybe TrainSim.com?) And the BNSF SD40-2 is DLC from Steam.

I didn't see anywhere on Ian's blog about Sherman Hill, but I did notice you need the original Seattle sub, his Soo Line, his freeware assets pack, and the SD60W. I know the double stacks were from the original Seattle.

And if you tell RW Tools to ignore duplicate items, search is quicker. *!!wink!!*

I have owned railworks on Steam since it was just railsimulator 2...Or just railworks...Can't remember. Many years although I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it many, many times before.

That being said, shouldn't I have the default stuff needed? I have Cajon, Castle Rock, Colton & Northern, Sherman Hill, Marias Pass, Horseshoe Curve, NEC, Stevens Pass, Fort Smith to Heavener, NY&NH, SOO Line (w/ payware assets), Seattle (version prior to final released today) and of course, the Seattle Sub final as well. I figure I should have these rolling stock assets.

When I was copying and pasting the missing files earlier I did notice the freeware Justin Cornell GP38-2 that needed to be downloaded as well so thats an easy fix. The BNSF SD40-2's...Well, I just bought them as a package deal on Steam with either the Marias Pass or Stevens route...Can't remember but I know I have them.

I don't have the SD60W's though nor do I have some of the Amtrak assets that some of the scenarios call for.

Any other suggestions? I do appreciate the responses so far. Sucks thinking that I am the only one having these problems...Am I doing something wrong?

Even the ones that say 2014 have rolling stock missing. Is there an easier way to have a list of what you need and where to find it? Thanks!

All of these above listed scenarios are missing "dbl stack 40-53 001, 002, 003 and/or 004 or dbl stack 48-53 001, etc. I checked by manually opening each of the asset folders from both the payware Soo and Seattle routes as well as through all of the freeware and rolling stock files. I went even further by searching my entire Railworks install for said files and no luck. Were these cars only available some time ago? I checked online for anything similar and couldn't find them either. There are a few other cars missing too but they are easily substituted. Odd though, that I have owned Railworks this long and many of my missing rolling stock pieces are listed as default...Err...

I have also had TS since the RW days (RW2, I think?) and seems like after each update something goes missing. Stuff I can think of recently is autoracks, TOFC's, passenger cars (Amtrak and early Santa Fe), probably more I can't think of right now.

Sometimes the issue is that the creator of a certain asset, that was used when making a route or scenario, leaves the sim and takes their toys with them. Or it was hosted by them and the site is gone. Freeware stuff should be able to be packaged along with some routes, but if it's a payware route, that's frowned upon. Then there's these .ap files that the assets could be hiding in. I'll presume a third party route can "see" inside these files to find needed assets, but I'm not a creator. Just a sometimes frustrated driver.

And like Old Prof says, I shouldn't have to jump thru a lot of hoops to get something to run. (not saying anything specific to this route, Ian. Just speaking in general. *!!wink!!* ) I've tried editing, and RW Tools is beyond me.

Chris, have you got the route working yet? I got my "2014" activities working finally...(only cost me $15 for the GP60's in pack #2 and RSC Amtrak F40PH's for $20 more bucks) Let me know if you need some help because now that I am excited to see this thing finally work, I want everyone else to as well.

And as far as RW Tools goes, yes, I had a crash course lesson (taught by myself) about it just a few days ago. Never used it before but had to learn. Not an easy program for me to "pick up" but its pretty awesome for doing what I learned to do. Let me know if you need help!

Thanks, Richard, I may take you up on that later on. I actually don't have the route yet but do plan on getting it (just trying to see if I could be of help). "Real Life" is keeping me very busy the last several months, between my paying job and my volunteer work on the battleship, I don't have much time for games. Keeps me out of trouble, eh? *!!wink!!*

I tried what you suggested Mike and as soon as I clicked on the engine (C40) it crashed.

When I did the old standby F7 it works fine. Haven't had a chance to do much yet. Off to the office. More later.

You mean the scenario wasn't named "David Copperfield visits Seattle"?
