The AI puzzle never ceases to amaze (and frustrate) me. I've become quite successful in general at playing nice with the mythical dispatcher, but he does at times throw me a new curve. Here's the latest:
I'm refurbishing an old switching scenario I made for Horseshoe Curve some years ago. Let me remind you that the entire Altoona Yard is one large signal block, with the exception of three signals along the through main tracks. So, at the beginning of this scenario, AI freight number 1 starts running from "section A" of the yard to "Section B" (names have been changed to protect the innocent). About 40 minutes later, AI freight number 2 runs to a different track in "Section B". This should work, but it doesn't: the dispatcher sends the first train toward the second train's destination track, causing a path leaving foul that ends play.
After trying several rewrites, I once again surrendered to my nemesis, who I suspect of being in cahoots with Dan Hernandez.
Please take this sad tale as precautionary: I'm not looking for solutions.
I'll just mention in closing that the scenario, titled "All in the Golden ... Evening", will soon be available through Steam Workshop. (I hope the dispatcher doesn't follow this forum.)
