Weird stripes appearing on terrain

For some reason, a route I just set up is full of strange black stripes on the terrain. They only appear in distant view. Has anyone else had this issue, and resolved it? Could it be marker related or something other issue?

Bad road ribbon. You can fix by editing the road shape in the World Editor.

The lines are similar to the ones I've seen with distant mountain textures. Go to the problematic route folder and rename the Terrain\textures folder to Terrain\x_textures and see if the lines are still there in the sim.

The terrain/textures folder doesn't have anything in it at the moment. At the moment, the route just uses default terrain textures. So not sure what to do about it.

I did add distant mountains to the route, but I'm not sure how to get rid of them to see if this makes a difference.

After readding the distant mountains to the route a few minutes ago, the annoying black lines seem to have disappeared. Might actually be possible to build a route without them now.....

This isn't a fix, but I did notice a resemblance to a DNA Helix.
