Best route for a new player

Unread postby ragincajun » Fri Jan 31, 2014 4:40 pm

I've had Train Sim 2014 for a month now and am looking to download free route from the file library. I only have TS 2014 so I'm not sure which routes I can download and which I can't since I don't have any of the previous train sim games. If you could recommend a rout that would be great. Thanks.

My top choices:
1- NERW - North Eastern Pa Div
Excellent quality and there are tons of scenarios available at the NERW web site. Also all the assets for scenarios are available at the NERW web site.

2- Bay of Quinte
A jewel. Several scenarios available here and at the NERW web site.

3- Industrial Interactive Route A very densely packed industrial route. Several scenarios available here and at the NERW web site.

4- Moscow Camden & San Augustine 1920 Excellent quality. Several scenarios available here.

Other excellent routes are available but the ones I listed are the ones with the most available scenarios, which is my main criterion.

NERW would probably be my choice as well for ease of install and a solid mix of both passenger and freight duties. And there's more than enough scenarios written for it to keep you busy for quite some time.

Also, once you have NERW and the various assets installed, there's a number of scenarios available using NERW stock on various other routes.

I just downloaded Bay of Quinte. Absolutely beautiful rural scenery. Best I have come across so far.

Yes, it is quite exceptional. Would like to see more from its creator, but it seems he disappeared from the RW scene. !*don-know!*

He was a fairly young teenager when he did this route. Urban myth has it that he discovered girls.

I know a lot of people who have disappeared after that point.
