Needing some help with C36-7 locomotive

Unread postby cnyle » Mon Jan 27, 2014 10:10 pm

I have been a reader here for quite some time now, but I find myself in need of some help. I have installed the C36-7 locomotive from Digirails I got the engine installed ok as far as seeing it, but I don't have any sounds. I have tried to post about my problem on the Digirails site, but I've not gotten any response yet. I have found a couple of threads here about this locomotive, but none with the problem I am having. I know all of the sound files are there, but for some reason well beyond me, I cannot figure this thing out. Any help will be greatly appreciated, Thanks.

Not sure if this is going to answer your question but i have this loaded and it works. One folder is Assets\CHINA\RWSO\Audio and RailVehicles. In the railvehicles it has Diesel\ND5\Sound. In there is a whole bunch of ND5 sound files.

The other folder is Ded Mozaj\C36-7i\Audio and couplings, lights, and RailVehicles. The RailVehicles has a Audio folder which again has all of the ND5 sound files. The Audio folder that is right below the C36-7i has a cabin radio folder and bell, horn .wav files and ND5 horn bin and proxybin etc. files.

I'm sure some of these are probably duplicates but like I said it works.

Its one of my favorite locomotives available. The sounds are fantastic. As Buzz said, you need to check both names in the fly out. CHINA/RWSO and DED MOZAJ.
Not sure what the RCAP files have to do with this? The loco comes in Conrail,CSX, and BN road names. I run it a lot. !!*ok*!!

Thank you all for your replies. I'm not singling you out Buzz, but it seems like you are always willing to help with about any problem I read on here, your knowledge, and everyone else's here is greatly appreciated. I went in and checked my file structure and it looks like on the surface everything is in order. About the only thing I am seeing different inside the Ded Mozaj folder I have the C36-7i folder and another China folder. Inside the China folder it has RWSO/Audio/Railvehicles folders. And any time I add something new, I clear my cache, but I'm seeing Blueprints.pak files inside most of the folders, should these be getting removed by the cache clearing? One last wrench to throw at the clock. When I add a new locomotive I start up the sim, go to drive, quick drive, choose loco, then create new. I then make a consist with my locomotive and thats it. I have tried to use the editor to add a locomotive, but to be honest I cannot figure it out at all. Is this where my problem my be? I dont know why I've been able to add other loco's without the editor but not this one. One last thing, I have seen a couple of videos on the C36, and they almost seem like the user is starting the engine, is this something I need to do with this loco or is that more for show on the video, because I sure don't start any of the other ones lol. Thanks again, I'm really looking forward to getting these up and running.

I'm not sure I followed all of that however I verify if a locomotive or any other rolling stock for that matter loaded correctly is to pick any route that you know always works, go to free roam, load it up and then go into world editor. Click on the little train symbol in the upper left flyout so you are in rolling stock edit mode. Make sure your asset is clicked in the right asset highlight and then go and see if it's on the list. If it is see if it shows up, put it on the track, set it up as a driven locomotive and then exit the edit mode. See if it works there, then if it does you know it is installed correctly.

I have the same problem with using the Editor, try this from "Bpetit" (a member here): http://3985gtasayoutube.blogspot.com/20 ... in_22.html I still like using the Custom Quick Drive better, tho. I think that sometimes, with third party rolling stock, you have to use the editor first, then it will show in Custom QD.

I don't have the C36-7, so not sure if it has a startup procedure or not. But the GP20 sure does, and it quickly became my favorite little engine.

Thanks Chris, that site shows how to do it exactly. I still can't figure out why I get sound when I set things up in the editor, but not when I make a consist in the quick drive menu. Everything shows up and the train works, but no engine sounds, weird. !*hp*!

Might want to try and do a verify of the TS files. I had to do that when I installed a repaint onto the GP20, controls didn't want to operate. If you don't know how, to verify the game files, click on the Steam icon, choose Library> TS2014> Properties> Local Files> Verify. Did this engine have it's own GeoPcDx files, or did you have to copy/ paste from another engine?

They came with the geo files. http://s1.zetaboards.com/DigiRails_Foru ... 269/2/#new Its the first loco listed. I get an error message when I try and run it through rw tools, but I'm probably doing that wrong also lol.

I have yet to figure out RW Tools, there is a section here further down the main page dedicated to RW Tools tho.
