Hey im having an issue with coupler that was created by mike and I. It works ok with any wago with the same coupler. but if I link it up to a kuju coupler they both disappear and I cant couple to the wagon. where does the coupler need to be in max I guess is the first question. anybody know any blueprint tricks for it that I may have misseD?

Thanks

Ian

All I can remember from messing around a couple of years ago is that it is usually the height that is causing the problem.

the height in BP editor or in max?

BP editor. The couplers should be separate from the main model (a child)

I know that they need to be seperate, i didnt put the couplers in as a child to begin with. They are referenced using the coupler blueprint for the front and rear.

Thats correct. I didn't mean to say they should be added as a child to the BP, but that it is similar in fashion.

I fixed the coupler issue at least mostly. I ticked midpoint in the blueprint and rotated the coupled geometry 180 degrees and saved it. That has since corrected the disappearing coupler problem. If two front ends are facing eachother tho the coupler re-rotates around and couples. two back ends the couplers connect correctly.

weird

OK I fixed it. the issue was the coupled geometry wasn't facing the right direction. uncoupled geometry and coupled geometry need to face the positive Y direction. the uncoupled geometry needs to start at the 0y origin and project out positive direction, and the coupled geometry needs start at the 0y origin and project in the negative direction keeping the same orientation( the knuckles are both going in the same direction). just the whole coupled state-coupler needs to be on the opposite side of the grid.

If that makes sense lol
