Why does stuff just disappear?

Was trying to run my DD40X yesterday, just for the heck of it. Could only find it in a few Standard scenarios on Cajon. One a passenger run, the other two freight runs. But, can't run them, because the "up lightweight coach cars and lounge cars" are missing, as are the "bn TOFC 50' " cars. I presume I had all these back when I bought the DD40X from DTM. Looked in "build consist" for custom QD and for free roam. Cars just don't show up. Also, the DD40X doesn't show up anywhere other than those three Cajon scenarios. Haven't run this engine in a while, but certainly less than 6 months ago.

So I tried another scenario to see if TS is just being grumpy. Tried the GS-4 Daylight and Freedom train in a few Standard scenarios. Hah! No coaches! "can't build consist". Coaches also no show in custom QD or free roam. What's going on? I verified files twice so far. First time 265 files missing. Second time 187 files missing.

I have never done a fresh, clean reinstall of RW/ TS, I just let the updates roll on, so everything I owned in the beginning should still be here, right? Meaning what was default back then, but extra now, I should have already and not need to buy?

Was too frustrated after several hours of fussing around, didn't go into the Build editor (which I'm not that good at yet, anyways) I guess I need to try that later, but not knowing where these cars came from, I don't know which provider check boxes to tick. If I just tick them all, will it crash the editor? I have an awful lot of TS stuff installed. Thanks, y'all.

First off don't you have everything backed up? The UP passenger car is in the Kuju folder I believe and is the default paint, without going to look. The GS4 and it's cars are the G-trax lwt cars. So you should only need to tick RailsimulatorUS, G-trax trains and the DTM models and any and all of that stuff should show up.

Backups only to TS2013, not earlier. (one reason I lost C&O, and King's Arm Highway) Looks like DTM/ Dovetail may have fixed my dilemma with the DD40X (for now). I'll look for the cars you posted about, still curious about the BN TOFC 50' cars.

The BN 50' TOFC is from GreatNortherner. Should be in his folder as a separate item TOFC

Strange stuff this morning.after two more file verifications, with over 100 missing files "reaquired" each time, the passenger coaches have returned. TOFC's not yet. And now I have the "new" DDA40X, plus a DD40X? Guess I'll verify again, for the fun of it, eh?

Still no TOFC's. Looked in the Railworks> Assets> GreatNortherner folder, nada. Looked on Michael's website as well, nada. I know we have these but darned if I can remember what route. Maybe Cajon?

I also seem to remember another member asking about TOFC's some time ago. Don't remember what the conclusion was. Didn't "ca2kjet" (was that his name?) have some he posted here, or at his own website? Darn this CRS

The TOFC came from the late Doug Smith of Smitty's Locomotive Shed and is no longer available.

I still have some of Doug's stuff, I'll take a look. I also did more searching in the file library here and did manage to find some in the repaint section.
