Package Manager items showing in red

Unread postby wisrailfan » Thu Jan 02, 2014 11:14 pm

When viewing the expandable tree view in the Package Manager, I get several items that appear in red, even though I've gone into the actual folder in Windows Explorer and verified that the files are there. This only appears to apply to add-on content that was .rwp files that I installed using the Package Manager and only seems to apply to anything in the Kuju/RailsimulatorUS/ folder, any of the locomotive add-ons I bought from Eyein12 (SD60, GP60 pack 1, and CN C40-8), and the freeware Modern Freight pack from GreatNortherner. I've installed several of the default freight car repaints in .rwp format and even though the files appear in Windows Explorer they cause errors when trying to load a scenario that uses them. This is not a problem for add-ons that were merely copied and pasted from a .zip file. In addition, when I'm in Scenario Editor and open the upper right flyout to select content to use, Eyen12 doesn't appear on the Asset folder options to try and bring some of those items into the game. I try to follow every readme to the letter when installing things but am wondering if I'm not missing a step somewhere. Has anyone else run into this?

In the Utilities panel, click over to the Packager tab. Drill down through the folders there and see if you see your files; it should show the same files you find with your Explorer file manager which should be the same files found inside the packages of products you downloaded.

About the repaints, did they require the copying of certain .geopcdx files? If so and you did that, run through those steps again. It's very easy to make a simple mistake like pasting them into the wrong folder. (Sorry if that's too elementary; I don't know your expertise with file tasks; I still get lost sometimes in all the folders)

Items in the list view or tree view appear in RED if the package manager thinks they are missing from the asset folder. Note that this check appears to be case sensitive. If the case of the file or folder names doesn't match whats recorded in the package file, it will incorrectly flag the files as missing.

Thanks for the replies. Tori, I have installed some add-on items that required copying a .GeoPcDx file - some repaints of SD70MAC, SD70ACe, and four chute hoppers but those are all under the RSC and RSDL folders and don't show up in red. I did go into the Packager tab and looked at all of the tree views of the items in question and nothing showed up in red. Everything in the Eyein12 folder appeared to be normal and there were some empty folders under Kuju/RailsimulatorUS/ but those were only under the default stuff - all files for repaints of those items appeared to be there. I'm a long time user of MSTS (over 12 years) so I'm pretty familiar with the need to copy shape and other files and/or rename things to get add-ons to work. I've only been using Railworks/TS-2014 about two months but fell in love with the visuals and the sounds and went crazy in the Steam sales and have bought almost all of the available USA content.

wacampbell - I did check some of the folders that were showing up in red and I did notice that the GeoPcDx file was either capitalized or named differently. Could that be the reason they were appearing in red and don't appear on the flyout menu in the editor?

That could be why they are red in the package manager, but I doubt it would effect their visibility in the browser fly out in the editor.

Try fixing the capitalization to match what package manager shows and see.

I changed a couple of them to get all of the capitalization to match and it reflected in the Packager but still not the Package Manager. I was able to find Eyein12 in the flyout memu - it is located at the bottom of the list instead of alphabetical order so that's one issue solved.
