Steam has limited the purchases for me???

During the Thanksgiving holiday, I purchased some items that were on sale for TS2014 from Steam.
However, I just tried to make another purchase of a Loco, and got a message that my purchase has been declined, and that for protection of the account user, the pruchases is limited.

I sent a note to the help desk but no reply.

Has anyone gotten a similar type message, What happened, and how was it resolved. Did it take Steam long to reply?

Never had that happen, and I've made several purchases in the same day, let alone over a few days. It could have something to do with your credit card, or however you are paying. Steam Support can take several days to respond to your support ticket. They never reply right away. **!!bang!!**

If you have one try a different credit card or use paypal. I had a problem like this a while back and never did find out why it didn't like my card. The next time I went to get something several weeks later the original card worked fine again.

I do use paypal, and they approve the purchase. I also use my credit card for other purchases, and no problems.
Unfortunetly, I don't have another credit card.

I will wait to see what comes of this.

It is their loss if they don't want my business at the end of the day.

I had that happen about 3 months ago. It seems that Steam is extra-strict about credit validation and once you are locked out there is no automated way to have them unlock it even if you change payment method.

The only way to fix it was to open a steam support ticket and provide them with the card and other details I was using for purchases. They had to manually approve it in my account and it has worked since. Note that it took *multiple* support tickets and a few weeks to fix it since Steam support is not very good.

Did you give them you credit card number to the tech support on the web,,,...I am not sure I want to do that.

I did it via email with Steam Support, but you probably DO want to submit it with the original ticket. Otherwise you will be waiting a LONG time. Steam support could take a week to respond to the original ticket, then they'll ask you for the info. You send it back, then wait a week for them to do something, etc.... Very slow / poor support on their part.

I could also have something to do, me thinks, with the time of the year, being that it's a big holiday season for those purpotrating credit-card fraud. I had an online retailer yesterday decline a card I've used many times before, and it works fine everywhere else. Switched payment methods and all is well.

Far as Steam goes, after the debacle a few years back where they a lost a billion or so passwords to hackers, i'm very cautious when dealing with pay transactions with them.

One thing I have noticed Steam doing of late is they have been asking me my three digit security code, from the back of my credit card. They never did that before.

I had my account hijacked once before, and it did take about 4 days for the first reply from Support. Then, they did want my credit card number that I had made purchases with. I didn't see I had much choice but to send it to confirm who I was. Worked out fine, did take about a week total. Keep in mind, Support doesn't work weekends, either. !**duh*!!
