Old problem has returned.

Unread postby RAILSOHIO » Fri Nov 15, 2013 1:45 pm

I got burnt many times in 2013 in editor mode, running out of memory with the warning:failed to create vertex buffer...out of memory. I had to force myself to remember to save every 15 minutes. I have not had that problem in 2014...until now. Its done it twice after a half hour or so. I always clear the cache before starting. I have 8GB of memory on this PC. Suggestions?

Try rebooting before you start the editor.
Applications are programmed by developers who make mistakes. Some applications are known to have memory leaks, some don't free up their resources on exit, etc. Your problem could be due to that pdf file you read two days ago (this happened to me).

That is a good suggestion, however I did reboot after the first crash. I am just going to have to remember to save often,it seems.

So it continues. I did a Google search for the following message,no real answers. failed to create vertex buffer(EOUTOF MEMORY) FILE DxCommon\cHcVertexManager Dx.cpp LINE 1242
I have a GTS 450 video card. I am uaing the Google Earth overlay, but this happened before in 2013.

A "vertex buffer" sounds like a video card issue. What make and model card do you have, and do you know how much VRAM it has onboard?
Ryzen 7 2700K, Asus Prime X570P, 32Gb DDR4, 2x 1Tb M.2 SSD's, RTX2060 6Gb, Occulus Rift
Win 10 Pro 64bit, keyboard/ mouse/ wheel/ pedals/ baseball bat

I agree with Chris a vertex buffer issue usually means that there is NOT enough vram to load the data being sent by the cpu. So how much VRAM and what is your monitor size and resolution?

Video card is a GE force GTS 450 running 1680x1050 resolution in RW. 27 inch monitor. When I bought this card 2 years ago,I thought it was a decent one. I do know its time to upgrade, but the thing that concerns me is I NEVER get this type of warning when running a scenario,no matter how heavily populated the scenery is. Only when editing my route. Yes I have a 64 bit system,I saw the thread on expanding your memory allocation for 32 bit. I have not done a game cache verification, since many say their assets get wiped when they do. I have been running RW in windowed mode, especially when editing. Thanks for the input,so far, guys.

It could be the card IMHO with a 27" monitor you may well need a card with GDDR5 VRAM and with 2GB onboard - at least a GTX6xx series

I may back off the res while working in editor. Or shut off the TSX. But it sounds like a high HP card will be needed.
