I think I managed to get everything sorted out! I have a few more questions now (I'm sure you're all feeling like this guy: !*hp*! )

1) Is there a reason the freight car sounds aren't heard when I'm in the cab of an engine?

2) It seems like sometimes the sounds kind of "snap" in late, like the game almost forgot to load them right away. Does this happen to anybody else? And is there anything to do about it?

1. The wagon sounds are set to only be heard outside. You can change that if you wish.
2. These sounds are pretty good quality so a really good quality sound card is needed. I very rarely get the sound starting and stopping abruptly.

I have spent all week adding Krellnut's Wagon Sounds mod to all the RSC routes; ShermanHill, DonnerPass, MariasPass, and the Freight Assets in all the DLC Engines and the LV freight cars for TandD Green Falls switching route. I am very pleased with the results, particularly the sound of the coupler slack being drawn out. Music to my ears!!! I have even successfully added Zetaboard's Replacement Coupler sounds to all the RSC DLC.

But I am still failing to get the Wagon Sounds to work in HorseshoeCurve route. I recall that XDriver mentioned somewhere, a couple of weeks ago on this forum, that the individual HSC freight car files must be "hacked" to add the missing rail car sounds support for most of the HSC rolling stock. XDriver even supplied a XML code snippet for use to edit the .BIN file with. I have struggled now for a couple of days to discover for myself how and where to add the XML code into the car file with no success with the wagon sounds. I have successfully converted copies of the .BIN to .XML using RW_Tools but after studying other routes' cars .BIN files, I am failing to learn the secret.

Could anyone provide me with a working HSC freight car .BIN file with Wagons Sounds support for me to copy the method?

I just looked in the latest version of the game, and all the cars in HorseShoe Curve are using RailSimulatorUS sounds. It should work.

when i put the sounds in the Horseshue Curve audio, the hopper 21a doesnt get the sounds. At least for me, anyway.

The hopper 21a is the asset that comes to mind to me in particular. XDrive has given us a XML code snippet to be applied as a child object to give it sound support. I just was asking for additional instruction how to add a child object to an existing asset .BIN file.

Attached you will find two bins, one fixed and one not. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to see what has to be done to add sound.

I have added your Wagon Sounds to just about all the RSC DLC assets for routes in my RW collection. They are sounding sweet particularly when I do yard switching. I love the sounds of the coupler slack being drawn out. The sounds of a train at speed in the trackside view really are quite prototypical.

Now I want to add your Wagon Sounds to GreatNortherner's huge collection of freight cars. Michael has told me that his custom sounds are adapted from the MSTS sound files. But they are not as loud in volume as your sounds collection. BTW, I don't hear the freight car truck wheels clack as Michael's Freight Cars roll over the points and frogs of the yard turnouts.

Is there a trick involved in making the conversion...Or should I just alias his "Wagon Sound BP.bin" to your "Wagon Freight Sound.bin" and point it to the "WJ Sound" directory of the Assets folder?

Most if not all of Michael's cars are setup using Kuju\RailSimulatorUS sounds. My packs are setup to work there, nothing should have to be done to Michael's stuff.

I just realized after receiving your advice that I had neglected to apply the wagon sounds to the Kuju directory. Low and behold, GreatNortherner's rolling stock collection now have all of your wonderful sounds. Thanks again.
