Could this be the same or a similar problem be affecting my route, the scenario editor no longer lets me create a new scenario from scratch, it just crashes completely, no error log or no sbhh message either, I have to go to task manager to clear it and shut down the program, also had to delete a scenario as it started going mental and then eventually crashing, - had to wipe it in the end.

I'm not worried about the scenarios as they can be re-written in a couple hours, my concern is for the route as I've updated and I've backed up like I've always done then I bought stuff since the update and backed up my entire folder to 2 other drives.

I guess my question is - Is this problem restricted to just the scenario editor or is the main editor affected also?

I've been in and out of the world editor maybe 50 times/day since Dec 3rd with no probs at all so far. Pretty sure it's only scenario's it effects.

Do you think it's the same thing causing my scenario editor to no longer let me create a new scenario from scratch on that route or would it be some other bug?

Tried the factory install. No luck. *!sad!* Up against a brick wall. Trying deleting all my recently made scenarios. I havn't gotten the hang of scenario building yet, so all my scenarios are half-done and nothing to be proud of.

I deleted the NERW route and 2 scenarios I had recently made on Donner and Cajon passes. It worked. I was able to load RW and played with 2 default engines. Now. Was it the scenarios? Or was it the route? !*YAAA*!

Dude you had none of the 3D Train scale products installed according to your report, that was definitely crashing the route.

I reinstalled all the 3dtrains stuff. Then I couldn't load RW to check it. Stupid .xml error. I will try NERW again in a little while.

Got on and tried NERW. It worked perfectly! Beautiful sunset! (Too bad I can't run TSX) Hopefully this spells the end of these problems!

I recently had this error. The problem occurs when you work or edit an scenario. At some point the file gets corrupted and causes this crash when you try to open TS2013. It easy to detect due to the huge filesize. Just check the folders of the scenarios you where working on by date and when you find a 100mb (or so) file you´ve found the problem. Then just delete the folder.

Having been through 2 ... count 'em, 2 uninstalls and reinstalls, let me offer these observations.

The idea of renaming you old TS2013 installation and letting Steam reinstall all the standard files is a good one, since it gives you a working base to start from.

However, if you have subscribed to any Steam Workshop scenarios, I suggest that you first go to that section of Steam and unsubscribe from all of them. This is easy enough to do, since it's possible to select your subscriptions and then unsubscribe from them one at a time. If there are some you particularly liked or haven't had time to run, just make a note of their names before unsubscribing.

By the way, running the delete local files option in Steam does not remove all TS2013 folders and files--those left behind have to be removed manually, but the renaming trick will cover them as well. Another recommendation based on my experience is to delete the entire Steam client, so that you start with an entire new installation. This adds to reinstall time, of course, but I think it's worthwhile in the end.

If you're not sure which scenario folders are safe, use RW_Tools to check for and remove invalid scenarios. This function is available at the "Edit Scenarios" tab: select a route and click on "Show Invalid Scenarios"; if any appear in the list box that opens, select them and click on "Delete Selected Folders". (Thanks to Otto for this information.)

Edit: I forgot to mention that you can also use RW_Tools to check for corrupt scenarios before going through uninstall and reinstall or check your old scenarios before pasting them into your new installation by simply pointing RW_Tools at your old, renamed installation. This strikes me as much easier than moving former scenarios back in one at a time and taking the risk that a rotten apple winds up in the fresh basket.

It seems to me that TS2013 now runs better and faster on my computer than it did before, so maybe a good winter house cleaning isn't a bad idea. You'll certainly have time to clean your real house while waiting for the reinstall to complete!

Good luck, all!!!

RW_Tools is the best value-for-money product for RW you will ever find. I think it costs about two bucks! Get it !!*ok*!!
