Well, yah, but... !DUH!

After that do I just copy over the assets, or unpack them into a folder? It's not "intuitively obvious" to me. *!!wink!!*

I'm too accustomed to using the Package manager.

Where do you copy the downloaded .zip files to? I tell Firefox to save them to my Desktop, then I unpack them, get to the core .rwp file, then start Railworks and browse to the file with Package Manager. Click twice on the file, press Install, it takes a few minutes, but it's done. Clear blueprint cache and off I go. If it's an .exe, then just run the .exe, it will install by itself.

Chris - that's really not the issue. Glenn said that I could use WinRAR as an alternative to PM, I was just wondering how he used WinRAR to install the .rwp file, not just unpack it. The .rwp file obviously contains a file structure that WinRAR can read, so I'm wondering how using it can install a scenario, that's all.
A lot of folks around here know a lot more than I do! I "only" have 824 hours invested in this thing... Some would say wasted... !*roll-laugh*!

I don't think you can, Marc? You have to either use the Package Manager with the .rwp, or a .exe. OK, maybe with a third party skin, but you have to go thru such convoluted copy and paste stuff. Drop this file into this folder kind of stuff. I can't get the hang of it. Sorry, I haven't been much help. Win RAR just unpacks the file, it can't install it into RW.

!!**sorry**!! to say, Chris, It can install directly into \raiworks folder, Sir! !*salute*!

Use Win Rar (I use 7-Zip) and choose the option "Extract to \(name of folder)" browseing to:
...\STEAM\steamapps\common\railworks

That's a simple "extract to a folder" operation as any other we do everyday into a especific destination folder. That simple, once you know where to extract to, of course... *!!wink!!*

Since many months ago I've been installing all rwp with a zip tool, I hate Packager Manager... *!twisted!*

!*salute*!

Doc, I just find it easier to use the Package Manager once I unzip the files (including all the ones I bought from TaD) Yes, I do use 7ZIP. But, since I don't create, I don't have to "package" anything. I think that's where you hate the thing.

Not only the Packager (this one I hate even more !*roll-laugh*! ), I hate Package Manager also, yes, is too much slow... you have to wait that automatic greeny refresh bar go away, otherwise the screen freezes (if in the meantime you try to install other rwp, or start TS2012). No way, I can live - and far better - without Packager and Packager Manager. *!!thnx!!*

Thanks guys. I don't have (or want to buy) WinRAR, and I've tried 7zip but it has too much baggage when it installs. I don't like install routines that try to get you to install five or more other unnecessary (and potentially dangerous) pieces of software. I have a license for WinZIP, something I've used in a business setting and at home for many, many years and I really like it, but it doesn't open RWP files, even if I change the file extension to .zip (I tried). WinZIP also opens both rar and 7z files for normal unpacking, so it's the only tool I usually need. I just thought that if WinRAR could actually open a .rwp file and would allow copy-and-paste in TS2012 then that might be an alternative if PM wasn't working for whatever reason. Sounds like even if it does that it's a cumbersome process.
Thanks for all the suggestions folks! *!!thnx!!*
I'm going to consider this issue closed and move on to driving trains! !*salute*!
