2000 ... interesting. So now I’m thinking that the scenario database is being corrupted by the Workshop Scenario subscription process.... which, I guess, “could”.... be interpreted as an “Access Violation Error”....barely.

You can just delete the scenario database and let the game rebuild it. However you will lose the green tick marks for scenarios you have completed.
Another explanation is simply that some WS scenarios have errors and a new version of the game is unable to parse them.
