New Central Vermont GP9 CAN'T LOAD IT

Unread postby Railroy19 » Sun Sep 22, 2013 12:57 pm

I'm
trying to get the Vermont Central engine by Dgallina to show up and having a problem.
I did copy the geopcdx files from the default gp 9 and thought It would work ok.
But the new engine just won't load. Also having the same problem with the Boston and Maine engines.

I think I'm following the instructions in the read me file but If there is a way to do it wrong I'll find it.
Can't wait to see these new repaints of New England engines.

I just loaded these up in quick drive and the consist shows up but the engines only show the couplers.
I can blow the horn and ring the bells. So I'm making progress:)
The horns sound great. And the engine sounds also are fine.
I hope I can figure out what I did not do right. !**conf**!

Hello,

The CV GP9s use a long-hood forward dynamic brake model that was not in the Birtkits pack until a few weeks ago. You need to re-download the Britkits GP9 Xtra kit from your original link and then install the new files to make it work.

The BM units are GP7s. They require the Britkits GP7 payware kit rather than the GP9 kit.

Thanks,
Diego

Thanks Diego
I will get these files so I can load these engines.
I sort of like the challenge of getting these repaints loaded. And thanks so much for doing these New England railroad models for us.

I just looked at my files to see what I had and I do have the Kit 11 gp7 and the kit 01 gp9
The payware files and I thought I used these for the engine files.
Back to the drawing board:)

Hi Bob,

Let's see if I can help you out:

1) You need a new copy of the GP9 Xtra kit. The geometry files I used were only added to the kit last week so you almost certainly need to re-download and install the missing files.

2) The model requires the Britkits Xtra pack in addition to the free pack. It won't show up without both. Install the base rwp from britkits first and then the xtra pack if you haven't already.

3) The models don't include any of the geometry *.GeoPcDx files from any of the subdirectories since we're not allowed to distribute those with repaints. That means you have to copy them over from the default GP7 or GP9 directory (depending on the model).

Let's use the BM GP7s as an example. If your directories have the default names, that means your base source directory is as follows:
c:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\Common\RailWorks\Assets\Britkits\EMD\RailVehicles\Diesel\GP7\Default and your target directories are under
c:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\Common\RailWorks\Assets\Britkits\EMD\RailVehicles\Diesel\GP7\BM_GP7_1557 and ..\GP7\BM_GP7_1560

There are many geometry files involved. The basic process is to find the geometry files in the default subdirectories and copy them to the same places under BM_GP7_1557 and BM_GP7_1560

\Default\Buckeye\B_Coupling_Closed.GeoPcDx would go to \BM_GP7_1557\Buckeye, for example

Do the same thing for every geometry file in every subdirectory.

Every model doesn't technically require every geometry file, but it's probably safest to get them all rather than having to guess at exactly which model requires (or doesn't) which file.

Once you've done all that, clear your cache, restart the game. In the editor make sure that Britkits -> EMD is enabled.

At that point everything should work!

Hi Diego Thanks for all your help and advice.
I just downloaded the kit files again and did the procedure and they still don't show up, only the couplers are showing.
I have your Main Central GP 7'S Green and Maroon working. These use the same files I think.
And I have all of britkitts gp 9's running also and these are from the payware kit.
Would you recommend that I delete these downloads of the repaints and start over again with new files?

Sorry to take up so much of your time but I really like your work on these engines.

I just looked up the dates on these files and I bought them September 7 2013
These may be the latest.

Hi Again,

Which of the downloads are you still having trouble with?

For the Central Vermont GP9:

The GP9 Xtra kit was updated by Dick on September 18th 2013. If your copy is from before that, you'll want to re-download the Xtra pack.

Once you unpack the new GP9 Xtra pack, you'll find the usual RWP file plus an unpackaged directory of files under GP9. You need to install those additional *.GeoPcDX under GP9 to the same subdirectories under your ..GP9\Default tree. You'll also want to copy those to the new Central Vermont GP9 directories since it uses those new models and not the ones that are in the RWP.

Thanks,
Diego

I still can't get any of the GP 9 Central VT. or the Boston and Maine GP 7 to load. I sent an e-mail to britkits and Rich told me to just redownload the extra files again and that would have the newest version. I did that and have the same effects. The quickdrive starts up and only the couplers show up. I can sound the horns and ring the bells ok and drive the engines but they do not show up on the tracks.
The MEC GP-7 you painted works just fine. So I would think the B&M GP 7 would work also.
I guess I am going to delete these downloads and start again from scratch.

I'll get them running sooner or later:)

Thanks Diego

Hi Bob,

Did you also try to add them via the scenario editor? Might want to try that too, making sure that Britkits -> EMD is selected from the content fly-out first.

Think they really *should* work. I've tested these on multiple machines and they look OK to me.

Thanks,
Diego

Yes I did with the same results.
I'm going to delete these engine files and start over but only one at a time until I get them running.
Good thing I'm retired:)
I enjoy this part of Railworks also.
Thanks Diego

Usually when only couplers are showing it's because the geopcdx file is missing.
You may have copied it to the wrong folder.

That is probably what I have done. Well it's a new day so I will check them all out and see if that is in fact what happened.
I really want these engine for the VNHRR. I'm not going to give up yet:)
Thanks, Chacal
