GTrax P42DC cabview corruption

Unread postby hefy_jefy » Sat Mar 09, 2013 12:51 pm

I see elsewhere that there are other people with this problem. Basically you can't see out of the windows! Which makes it really difficult because you have to drive with the "head-out" view, that in turn makes it really difficult to hear the warning and cancel it before the tarin comes to a halt.
Anybody have any ideas? I will report it to RSC...

The P42DC has not been updated for TS2013, which is why it is not currently available on Steam.

The simplest solution that I know of is to simply delete the entire content's folder and just run a cache integrity check and have it redownload the entire thing. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Normally the issues started happening for me when I started installing modifications to the P42DC (sound, effects, etc). Just try to do that and maybe fool around with the settings. The simple answer is that there is no concrete solution to this. RSC have either just thrown the entire thing out or are working hard to fix it with little to no results. It's unfortunate, but I hope that it might push RSC to make their own P42DC, a better model than the G-TRAX model. Sorry if this isn't much help.

OK guys - thanks! I was away from Railworks for a while; after returning I got the whole TS2013 update and I can see much has changed, some things are better some not...

OK well I seem to have found a solution! Its a little strange...
I started off thinking its likely to be something to do with graphics settings so went and turned a bunch of stuff off (Filtering, shadows, aa etc). Low and behold when I loaded one of the default scenarios that came with the P42 the cab windows were OK. So I tried in the scenario I wanted to use and the problem came back. Then I realized that in the scenario that worked the loco had a driver. In the scenario I was setting up (the default roaming one in Sparks Yard Donner) I had chosen the P42 with NC (no conductor?) changed to one WITH a driver and everything seems OK - I put the graphics setting back and still I have clear windows. Go figure - maybe RSC only fixed the windows on the trains with drivers - it make sense - sort of.
Anyway mo I can run the California Zephyr over Donner Pass see where I am going - cool.

NC on a locomotive usually stands for No Crew.

Yes OK. nc = no crew seems more likely, so I guess if there's no crew there's no need to be able to see out the windows *!!wink!!*
