What's this thing called?

Unread postby OldProf » Fri Feb 08, 2013 4:12 pm

I'm hoping that some kind forum member will take a moment to tell me what to call this one-legged creature. I know it's some kind of signal bridge, but would like a more precise name for it.

I think it's called a 'Gantry' in the US. I'm not entirely sure though.

Thanks, Hack. Is that terminology accurate for Europe as well ... specifically, Germany? I'm not looking for its name auf Deutsch, mind you, but it is located on the Munich-Augsburg route.

{Just to mention an oddity: I've been checking "View Unread Posts" ever since I asked this question, but none of the three replies triggered an entry amongst the Unread. (Pun intended, as you might suspect.)

Thanks, John. And thanks to Hack as well, of course. "Cantilever signal gantry" looks a lot better than "stop under that one-legged thing". *!!thnx!!* **!!bow!!**
