Default engines missing?

Unread postby Noel » Wed Jul 25, 2012 3:00 pm

I recently deleted the Dash 9 Packs, but when I verified the game cache and went into the editor to do an NS heritage shot, all of my ES44ACs were gone! !*not-ok*!
And so were my SD40-2s as well. !*!grrr!*!

Dang it RSC, you need to get your act together, or Steam and you. Just get your acts straight!

This is insane. !*not-ok*!

EDIT: I am going to delete the whole assets folder and do a verify game cache thing. **!!bang!!**
EDIT 2: Still no dice! I don't even have a Rail Simulator US folder now! This is insane RSC! **!!bang!!** *!mad!* !*!grrr!*! !!spank!!

Repaints sometimes disappear with a file verify. They are not default, so a verify will get rid of them, along with sounds and enhancements (lighting) mods. I always keep a backup of all my third party stuff in a folder in my Documents. That way, when Steam puts it all back to default, I can reinstall it all using Doc's cool little two step script.

But, you say, default engines? How many times did you do a verify? You may have to do it several times until it returns with no missing files. Plus, several other seem that Verify is broken.

OK, try this. Copy the "steamapps" folder to another spot on your hard drive. Uninstall and then reinstall the Steam client. _Paste that "steamapps" folder back in, it has all your games. Do a verify. See if that works for you.

I just left it for a few days, and I guess it just re downloaded it by its self. I was out of town for a few days, and they were there. Strange. *!greengrin!*
