Failed to Load Scenario

Unread postby ahelplesslamb » Thu Jul 19, 2012 2:19 pm

Hello, I can't even play the game. Whenever I try to even play the tutorial I get an error saying that "Scenario failed to load" Tried going to Tools&Docs and clear cache multiple times, but that didn't work. Also tried re-installing the entire game-also didn't work. I also can't do a free drive because of this. All I can do is look at the title screen. You can go to my steam profile and take a look at the error I get. I have also tried to verify game cache with steam and every time it finds something and fixes, but, when I play the game again more errors pop-up when I try to verify it again after I tried to play.
I have tried all the following fixes to no avail
OTE: If you are running in Windows Vista or Windows 7, please completely exit Steam, and right-click on the shortcut which you use to launch Steam and select "Run as Administrator."
You may need to manually run secondary installers required by this game. Exit Steam entirely. Browse to your Railworks installation folder

(Usually C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\railworks\)

You will need to run the following installers:

...\steamapps\common\railworks\Install\dotNetFx40_ Full_x86_x64.exe

...\steamapps\common\railworks\Install\install_fla sh_player_ax.exe

...\steamapps\common\railworks\Install\vcredist_x8 6.exe

...\steamapps\common\railworks\Install\DirectX9\DX SETUP.exe

Then, restart your computer and test the issue again. If you continue to have difficulty, please also run the following installer:

...\steamapps\common\railworks\Install\PhysX_9.10. 0513_SystemSoftware.exe

Reboot once more and test the issue.

Ummm, lamb dude, did you do as they said? A member over on the Steam Forum got the same e mail and it fixed him right up! You may have to verify the game files (right click on Ts2012, Properties> Local Files> Verify) Do this until Steam returns with no missing files. Run the game, but before you click on the Start button, go to the Tools and Docs tab and clear the blueprint cache. Hope that helps.

I did EXACTLY everything that they said, still doesn't work. I guess I will try again tomorrow....
EDIT: In some of the things that I tried in that list, it says I have a newer version than what is required so it aborts the download.

After 53 views I don't think bumping is going to excite anyone into tackling this problem. But let me ask a few more questions:

  • Do any scenarios work?
  • Do you have Steam/Railworks installed to the default location, or someplace else?
  • If you open the Assets\Content\{Route folder... yes its a GUID} folder, do you see a Scenarios folder? If so what do you see in there (should be a folder per scenario)?

What are these two:
"Eisenbanwerk RW
GermainRailroadsRW"

Is this some third party stuff, or did you get them thru RSC/ Steam? I don't recognize them. They could be messing things up.

The only other thing I can suggest is reinstalling the Steam client. But, first, copy your "steamapps" folder to another place on your hard drive, or to an external drive. Now, uninstall, then reinstall the Steam client. Paste that "steamapps" folder back in, verify the files until you get no files missing.

Duh, I re-read you other post, what do you mean "aborts the download" ? Those files are all in the game, you shouldn't need to download anything. Just find the file, double click on the .exe and run it.

I do not know what those other things are, they just appear in there.
By abort download I mean it says I have a newer version than the one I am trying to download and it quits the download.
