TSX and FPS

So I turned TSX off for the first time. WHAT?!? 150+ FPS. Wow that's smooth. So here's the weird thing... TSX is supposed to be about lighting and rain drops on windscreens etc isn't it? So why does it effect FPS so badly when the route I played with it on has no lights, no loco, no scenery... it's nothing but terrain, tracks, roads and lofts

I think I might have answered my own question... Shadows! It's the only visable difference. I can't, and wouldn't want to remove terrain shadows but I'm gonna figure out how to remove the Scaleroad and Scalerail shadows and see what happens.
