Double Header Scenario DLC for Portland Terminal

Unread postby fraserm » Sun Nov 20, 2011 2:12 pm

Hi, all. Has anyone tried to run the "Double Header" DLC from Jim Friedland? I have several of his creations and they're all interesting, challenging, and very fun to run. !!*ok*!! I've contacted Jim about this quirk and I hope he doesn't mind my asking the community about it. When trying to load the scenario I get an error box that contains three lines:

Driver 'PTM 1503/1501' at Lat 43.61269 Long -70.30047 - Unknown error -
Driver 'PTM 1503/1501' at Lat 43.61269 Long -70.30047 - Missing Marker - Rigby 8
Driver 'PTM 1503/1501' at Lat 43.61269 Long -70.30047 - Missing Marker - Rigby 8

I've downloaded and run RW_Tools at Jim's suggestion and can't detect any missing assets or any other apparent errors. I'm not familiar enough with scenario creation to comment intelligently as to what may be amiss, so I'm putting it out here for others to try. There are two versions of the scenario, the "Default" version requires no additional payware assets, and the second version relies on the SW1500 add-on from Steam. I first ran the Default version where I saw the error for the first time. Then I bought the SW1500 DLC, set up everything according to Jim's directions, and I get the same three errors. !*hp*!

If anyone has tried the scenario and run it successfully I'd like to know. Also, if anyone has tried to run it and encountered the errors and was able to fix it, I'd like to know that as well. I've tried running it on two different machines as well, so I'm thinking it may not be hardware-related (thought I may be wrong...). **!!bang!!**

I've been using RW2/TS2012 since July 2011, so I'm relatively new, but I have almost 200 hours "invested" in it and I really love it! Any suggestions are gratefully accepted!

Thanks in advance. *!!thnx!!*

I've been getting this kind of errors with PT scenarios since RW3 has come out.
Last night I had 'Unknown errors' and 'Broken consist' on the Bath Iron Works scenario 2.
I made a note of the coordinates and name of consist, opened the scenario in the editor, and shuffled the cars in the consist, making sure they hooked back together correctly. After saving the scenario it ran fine.

You may also have a corrupted scenario, especially if you saved during progress, in which case you would delete it and reinstall, but I doubt this is your problem since it affects two scenarios.

Hi, Chacal. Thanks for the suggestion. I edited the scenario and first rearranged the consist at that location (which is the startup location and the operational consist), and re-opened the scenario. I got the same error except that the coordinates changed slightly, to Lat 43.61262. Long -70.30048. That tells me that this is the consist with the problem. Next I edited again and moved only the main loco (the one with the driver marker) onto another track, leaving the rest of the consist in place and re-ran. Same error again, but with changed coords again. It appears to me that the scenario markers are somehow at fault here. There is a huge string of markers on the loco, I haven't gone through all of them to see if there's something obvious that I can fix. That's my next step.

I really like the PTM route and Im going to get the Bath Iron Works and the Fort Kent to Eagle Lake routes as time goes by, the Maine routes interest me a lot as I'm a New Englander born and raised.

Appreciate the thoughts and I'll post any results I get here for all to see. *!!thnx!!*

Regards,
Marc

You may have got confused by the Bath Iron Works scenarios for the PT route.

Bath Iron Works is a freebee scenario I wrote for PT that's available in the file library here and also on my site. I successfully ran all the scenarios that come with the Steam DLC prior to releasing the recent TS2012 updates, but I forgot to check this one. I'll take a look at it, fix it and re-upload it NLT Saturday.
