Odd hod unit behavior

Over on the Dovetail mostly trivia forum it seems some people are having a situation where the ammeter on the F units pegs when starting off, I can't replicate this phenomenon here no matter which loco I try it with. Has anyone seen this?

This weekend, I have been discussing that DTG forum thread with AmericanSteam from the point of view of "simulation".

And yes, I experience the full-scale ammeter reading in the new FRCE F7 when applying just a notch. However, after a few seconds, it goes down and after that it behaves pretty decent. To me this is an issue caused by the scripting.
Anyway, all the FRCE locos have several issues, especially in the sounds department.

The FRC F7 uses the old ammeter, but the needle starts up (idle) at 700 amp (F$ shows the right reading 275 amp).
The older F7 with older ammeters (UP, GN, DRGW, SPRR, etc.) work pretty well. The old CRR F7 has no needle at all (it could be the lack of the needle texture).
With the years, newer DTG locos seem to worsen, though I can see much better engine sounds in most of the FRCE locos.

I am 100% positive that the FRC and FRCE F7 ammeter issues are due to a bad scripting.

The first one is from a F7 in the original FRC no throttle applied note the amp gauge, the second one is of the 3D trains single unit F7 notch 1 from a stop. There seems to be several F7 amp gauge issues.

Then if you come to that conclusion why am I not seeing it?
As far as sounds are concerned this pretty much fixes all of the various 567 powered sound issues.

I may have appeared dramatic with the post (as the thread in DTG). But I wouldn´t care at all.
After that post I did a lot more tries with the FRCE F7. Sometimes the needle hit the red and some does not. It will depends of the way you free the brakes. This has to be an issue with the scripting.
Some happen if you hit the 1st notch throttle faster (after removing both brakes).

Try the Quick Drive for the FRCE Orange F7 "EMD F7 WP + "Ford Fast" Auto Train" consist (under EMD F7). This is one that sometimes hit the red.
But as I mentioned above, the needle gets down after a few seconds and starts working well.

There is also a YouTube in the DTG thread you refer to. In that one the needle gets the red area and then gets down.

I have arrived to the conclusion that this is not important to drive the FRCE F7. This is an issue with the ammeter reading and it doesn´t affect the performance simulation at all.
What is clear, is that the older F7 locos amps seem to work better than the FRCE.
