Eagle Ridge route install problems...

Unread postby wongsing » Tue Aug 16, 2011 11:03 pm

I just downloaded and installed the Eagle Ridge route for railworks 2 And what a fantastic looking route this seems to be! However, after I installed the route using the supplied installer in the file, the route started up fine, but there are no tracks and no ground textures (or tiles). The locomotive is drivable and all of the structures are present. Is there something I am missing here? I know that it's something I must've overlooked and I'll feel pretty stupid after I figure it out, but could someone that has had a similar problem shed some light (or landscape) on this subject? Thanks a bunch!

First on the list is to "clear blueprint cache" From the main RW launch page, BEFORE YOU PRESS "START", go to tools and docks and clear the cache. If that doesn't fix things, then verify the game files.

Click on the Steam icon, go to Libraries. Right click on the game> Properties> Local Files tab> Verify. I have had to do the "verify" procedure several times in a row, until it comes back with no missing files.

Hi,

I'm not sure about this one, but another thing might be missing: do you have one of Richard Garber's routes installed on your RW? The ERB makes heavy use of the assets of Richard's payware routes (which of course are not included in the ERB's package), so you need to have at least one of these installed before you can really run the ERB. Just an idea though, maybe this has nothing to do with the error you described.

Cheers,
Michael

I will try to clear the blueprints and see if that works. I really appreciate the help and suggestions. As far as the routes by Rich Garber I have the Colton and Northern installed right now so that shouldn't be a problem. I will see if this works. Thanks guys!

I cleared the blueprint files as suggested above, and I also verified the game's files. Still not working. Any other suggestions? Thanks for the help so far guys!

I don't have this route installed right now, so I'm not sure if it needed extra assets, like Scale Rail and Scale Roads, they're from Marc at 3DTrains: http://www.3dtrains.com/

I do appreciate the suggestion of the 3dtrains assets, but I already have them installed and they have been installed before I downloaded this route. Any other ideas? Thanks again!

Hi,

This is very strange. I have another (vague) idea, maybe Windows didn't allow the EXE installer to copy all necessary files. Vista and W7 sometimes have 'issues' with the EXE installers. What you can do in this case is to extract the downloaded route archive, expand the folders until you get to ASSETS and CONTENT, and move or copy these two manually to your main railworks directory. Then clear the blueprint cache once again.

Cheers,
Michael
