Disappearing wagon

Unread postby buzz456 » Mon Jan 10, 2022 6:11 pm

One of my re-paints appears to have a issue with showing up in the editor when being placed on the track and then when saved it disappears except for the couplers. Any thoughts by anyone about what's going on? Pretty certain the Geo is in the right place.

Which wagon exactly ?
In SL's second Freight wagon pack one wagon shows your findings (old ATSF boxcar as I remember).

It's a re-paint of Britkit observation car. One of my beta testers has it loading fine the other has this problem.

Is there a dependency from other assets that others may not have. I had the same issue with SS ATSF boxcar.

Hi,

Some older models, including some of my own and I think also Dick's, use the Kuju US assets for their sounds. This is problematic if the external (Kuju) sounds are linked directly in the wagon blueprints, which is known to make them go invisible if the scenario they're in doesn't have the Kuju US assets enabled.

A workaround to this issue is to set up the car wagon blueprints to link to a sound blueprint that's inside the car's own asset folder tree. This sound blueprint can be a direct copy of the one from the Kuju files (meaning you copy the sound BP and not any of the actual dav/wav files). This method ensures that the car is visible and usable for everybody, even without Kuju asset filter enabled in the scenario. My freeware GP9s are set up like this if you want to study an example.

Cheers,
Michael
