Need Help Installing E8 Reskin

Unread postby HendersonSub » Thu Nov 22, 2018 9:57 pm

I am having trouble grasping the unzipping and downloading of the Southern E8 (and any other reskin). When I go to install the files (SouE8, Sou6901, Sou6902), I have to continue to click through folder after folder to find only numbers that is an empty file. I don't want to seem like a technological idiot, but I am having quite a bit of trouble. Could someone please help me? Thank you.

First off did you use the installer? I have my Railworks installed on a separate drive so the beginning path may not be the same however the path from RailWorks to the engines should look like this.

Yes I have that installed, however, that's where it starts confusing me. I do not know where to put that folder from the place you've got in the picture.

I am not understanding what you are saying. I asked if you used the installer? You answered by saying I have that installed. Is it installed in the path I showed you? If that is where the folder is then that is where it belongs and we can move onto the next step. Do you understand when I use the word ' path '?

You need to unpack the AmtrakE8Pack01Assets.ap with something like RWTools or 7zip or winzip. Otherwise there is no place for the re-paints to go. And you also can't put the GeoPcDx into the re-paint as per the instructions since you can't find it.

Now I have a question..I've never unpacked a .ap file when installing repaints. I just make the additional directories and place the repaint as indicated. This doesn't seem to be an issue or am I missing something about how TS20xx works. I was my understanding that it read the .ap packs first and then the rest of the directory.

I guess I should say I do open the .ap file to extract whatever GeoPcDx files I may need, etc. but never have left then unpacked.

My understanding is the opposite. It reads the extracted folders first, and then the .ap.

I've got lazy a few times and extracted the contents of the .ap file and left the .ap there also. No issues to report.

Okay, so it does read them, I just was concerned that I was wrong and that it didn't read them at all.

You don't need to leave them unpacked as long as you make the proper folders so that the game can find the stuff however you need the right path for the game to find the stuff(re-paints and other mods). Boosted is correct the game reads the stuff outside the .ap first then the stuff inside.
