B&LE Peculiarities

Unread postby gtrtroger » Wed Sep 19, 2018 2:30 pm

I’m really confused and need someone to do a sanity check for me.

I was writing a passenger scenario using the 1925 Employee Timetable and no matter what I did, I could not match the times from N. Bessemer (MP 153.2) to Butler (MP 119.3). I have checked and rechecked - multiple times.

It appears from my investigation that there one or more track segments incorrectly represented from River Valley to Rockdale... approximately from 130.0 to 148.5, like 18.5 miles. Some, but not all the stop names are there and the trackwork appears to be missing multiple gaps. I used Google Earth with the route marked and RWInfo to do the comparisons. Using Google Maps in the Editor, it appears to be fine, but, it’s not..... it’s like there was a big strip of east-west terrain map decal left out. It’s like an optical illusion..... the rail line should be generally north-south between River Valley and Rockdale and then go northwest to Butler, yet, the in-game route is more like southeast-northwest directly to Butler.

If you get time, take a look at. Post what you think.

Back in the beginning of announcing this route, they mentioned that they did cut down on some mileage on the route, so it's not exact.

Thanks, I guess I missed that. I’ll just work with the timetable to condense it accordingly....

You can either adjust the timetable for the shorter distance, or have the train stop and wait somewhere long enough to still stick to the real-world timetable.

I heard the route was cut back to 70 miles. I though of buying the route if there was the older versions of the Bessemer and Lake Erie F7 locomotives. I am not into steam locomotives.

I wouldn’t let the missing miles stop you from getting the route....it’s a fantastic route.
If all that’s stopping you is a B&LE F7 then you should be getting this:

http://railworksamerica.com/index.php/d ... e-repaints

And there is an SD40T-2 Repaint running around somewhere ‘cause it’s in my Assets...... just saying.

Thanks for the heads up. I have read several books on the B&LE and the F& was the main stay locomotive back in the 1950's. I figure that the time frame of the 1920s to the 1950's hasent changed too much. Can you screen shot the route (9 key)?

Thanks,
Glenn
P.s. I will probably pick up this route later this week.

Thanks Buzz. Looks good
I just hit purchase.
I am not a re-painter nor a route builder. I can make scenarios.
I wonder if anyone could repaint from Michael Stephans http://www.golden-age-rails.com/rwroll.html. He has SD7s and SD9s the Bessimer had at the time.

Thanks,
Glenn

I just did my usual fly by in the editor from North Bessemer to Erie ore docks and wow, I am impressed. I spent a day back around 1994 and followed the Bessemer from North Bessemer to Greenville and I am impressed with their work. I had actually had taken 12 rolls of film when I went on that day. Bad part is I lost all the railroad pictures due to a fire. Looks like some F7 scenarios. Hint hint maybe a few sd7 and SD9?

I took the north bound empties scenario, cloned it and swapped out the steam for a set of F7A's.
