Repaint only shows up as black from a distance

Unread postby CArailroader » Tue Mar 13, 2018 9:32 pm

Hello All,

I'm currently trying to make my second repaint for the Alco S2, this time in the livery of the Sacramento Southern. I did everything the same as the first time I did and when in game, the textures look a shiny black and turn into the correct textures when you zoom in on it. Your help would be appreciated

Try this...
Create a grey alpha channel and add it to your texture.

Thanks for the advice but unfortunately that did not work? Does anyone else have a possible solution?

Certainly looks like an Alpha Channel issue

Suggest you do as follows:

- rename the Sacramento Southern master texture file as a backup (I'll call that Texture A)
- get the master texture file from another livery that works OK
- copy it into the Sacramento Southern folder (I'll call that Texture B)
- convert Texture B to a DDS file
- copy the full texture from the (bad) Texture A and paste it over the imported Texture B that you know works ok
(this will not affect the Alpha Channel already in place on Texture B)
- now convert that revised Texture B back to a TgPcDx file using the Sacramento Southern file name, using your normal method

You should now have the new livery using a prior Alpha Channel for the model that you know works fine.

That didn't work either. Would you be willing to look at it if I PMed it to you?

EDIT: Ok so now I believe it to be a problem with my photoshop settings somewhere. I tried to do a repaint of one of the NYC heavyweight coaches and I get the same thing as the diesel. I'll have to play around with it for a bit.

Nevertheless, if you can't work out the problem feel free to send it to me - suggest a link to Dropbox or whatever? PM me.
