Encountering Auto-Number Problems When Repainting

Unread postby ET44C4 » Tue Oct 10, 2017 9:18 pm

I am trying to repaint the numbers on the DTG C40-8 from white to yellow for the cab section. I have successfully changed the font of the numbers and I have added the new color, but for some reason when I load up the locomotive, the numbers appear darker than they should. I have noticed when I went in to import and save the alpha layer for the numbers, they get darker after saving and closing. The alpha layer does not want to seem to save properly. I have attached a few screenshots to show what I am talking about:

If someone could possibly help me get these numbers to show up on the locomotive correctly (meaning bright and not dull) I would really appreciate it. Finishing up those numbers will be the only thing that I need to do to complete a repaint that I'm sure everyone will enjoy. *!!wink!!*

Thank you very much

Would a picture of the numbers on the locomotive help any? I'm just confused as to how I am supposed to keep the alpha bright when saved. That is what is making the numbers appear darker.

Where are you getting the alpha from? When you have it in the editor (assuming at some time you have it there) save it as a BMP and then when you open the colored one as a BMP in the DXTBmp import the alpha from wherever you have it saved. Then save it as dds and it should have the bright white numbers.

I usually select "Send Alpha to Editor" and then make my changes. Once finished, I save it and then select "Refresh Alpha" in DXTBmp. Then I normally save and close. I will try saving the alpha as a .bmp and see if it works.

Thank you for responding!
