Screeching/grinding sound from wagons, help please

Unread postby Flash » Thu Apr 07, 2011 7:54 pm

So I got a bunch of packs which I installed, and I only had time to try 2, one from

Armstrong AP2 (the 40min Medium scenario intercity) and the Canadian Career (the one loading hoppers with coal then delivering them).

Now on both of them the wagons are making a horrible constant screeching/grinding. I guess it's suppose to "simulate" the sound, but the stupid thing is so constant and annoying. The sound is hearable when you have your camera outside and you float it around the wagons.

As you can see the screeching/grinding is very annoying, and I highly doubt that's how it should be.

The scenario is the Canadian rail, Canadian Rock – Career System Scenario.

Now the problem is that all I have in the package manager is just the 1 file that I can unistall, but I don't want to uninstall my hole pack and not be able to play.

When I go in assets, here is what the pack contains
\Assets\RSC\SD40CnPack01\Audio
\Assets\RSC\ES44CnPack01\Audio

And in there theres the RailVehicles and Markers. Do I need to delete some from there?

Now, here is a scenario from Canadian Rail, Wide Nose - Open All Hours (or one of those 4 scenarios, not sure which), which I had time to try today.

This has no sound screeching. The wagons are all nice and smooth and you can just hear the clickety-clack

I am looking basically to see if there is any way to stop the sound, and keep the "standard" ones before I installed all these packs, which pretty much include loco engine and the clickety-clack from the railtrack fishplate joints.

Thank you

Weird. !**duh*!!

Where do these sounds come from? Normally they aren't Railworks default.
The problem seems to be the soundfiles of the wagons.
I recomend that you download and install the US freightcar (wagon?) soundpack which can be found here in the Library.
It's very realistic and perfectly recreates original wagonsounds. After you've installed this pack these annoying sounds should be gone.

Looks like he took some of the advice from others in the thread he started on this issue over on the Steam forums and he already has it resolved:

Yep, I just wiped everything and started again from the begging, this time making sure I install 1 pack at a time, and not all at the same time. Unfortunately I require posting moderation so can't edit much :)

In case it is 1 pack that screws the soundfile then hopefully I will identify it much sooner. Also not only the US wagons as in video has this problem, the Armstrong AP2 pack (Intercity on UK) Intercity wagons also have the same annoying sound.

It's only new members first two posts that require admin approval. I do that in an additional effort to fight spammers. !*salute*!
