Scenario won't load

Westbound Containers, Part 1.zip


My son has written a scenario for the Marias Pass route but I can't get it to load. Can someone look at it and tell me what the problem is.

I think I've found the problem. When I opened the scenario for editing, there was a big red x error icon showing, so I clicked it and read the error message: "Sweetgrass-Shelby" . . . "Invalid Instruction - No Destination Set". This is one of those Alice in Wonderland errors that often doesn't mean what it says or doesn't say what it means. So I looked at the AI train and quickly saw that its starting location, the Shelby Hub #2912 track marker, is also its Destination. If your son opens the scenario for editing and gives this train a different destination, that should solve the problem and the scenario should load and run. I didn't make a correction because I don't know what he wanted this train to do.

Those red x's just cannot be ignored and sometimes they don't show up at first in the editor. When a new scenario fails to load, the first step is always to shut down TS, start it up again, and open the scenario in the editor.

Hope that this helps, although fixing one problem in a scenario sometimes reveals another . . . that's what makes this fun, right?

I think I sent you the wrong version. Wes said he was aware of the problem you mentioned and corrected it. Attached is the latest version of the scenario.

Yeah, that version dad just uploaded should be the working one. I've played through it several times and I think I've got all the kinks worked out of it. I have Part II almost done as well, just need to work out the rest of the minor kinks.

your crash seems to be related to texture problems.
This seems to point to corrupted route or asset files, rather than a scenario problem.

Loaded up fine for me.
I did the first 3 tasks & AOK !!
Did have to backup and get the rear of the player consent coupled up but other than that, looks very good!!!

That or verify local cache.
But first, check that you don't have local files overriding the ones in the .ap archive.

I deleted the route and reacquired it. Still didn't help. How do I check the files you mentioned in your previous post?

Find the folder for the route. It should contain a file called Maincontent.ap or something close (I'm at the office now).
This is an archive of all the files for that route. This is the file that gets downloaded when you reacquire the route, or that gets verified when you do "verify local game cache" in the Steam client.

Any other file in this folder, or in folders under it, overrides any similar file contained in the archive, even if you reacquire it.
So you should check for, and delete, such other files.

When I uninstalled this scenario RW Tools gave me a list of missing assets:
