Mods and career scenarios.

Unread postby CASO » Tue Feb 25, 2014 7:55 pm

I was getting a "failure to load tracks.bin", error on a career scenario with the Amtrak P42DC, so I verified the game cache, then reinstalled mods into the Genesis that modified the sounds and physics. But when I tried that same career scenario the tracks.bin error reappeared. I guess any mods will mess up career scenarios.

I should say that I tried the scenario before installing mods and it worked fine.

It depends on the mods. I've fixed brakes with no ill effects to career scenarios, but mass adjustments to car weights will as an example.

I think I saw someone else post this problem in relation to "FanRailer"s physics mod (presuming that's the one you are talking about). I'll see if I can find it. !!det!!

You could also verify the game files once more, then install the sound mod first, test; then install the physics mod, test.

Hah! Found the posts (6th one down): viewtopic.php?f=30&t=10664&start=15 Doesn't look like anything further about if the issue was solved or not. !**conf**!

Yes it's "FanRailers" physics mod, and I also install the "sound edit" available in the RWA file library. Then I put a change in the horn and bell sound from another site. Not sure which of those cause the issues, though I am suspecting it's the physics update since it, perhaps, changes the performance of the Genesis, and might be cheating? lol. Just a guess there. It's like changing locos in a career scenarios which disables them.

I have determined it's the physics mod that messes up the career scenario.

You are correct. Otherwise people would be able to, for some reason, cheat.

You can circumvent this problem by cloning the career scenario and making it a standard scenario by editing the blueprint.
