HUD Change on KUJU ES44AC

Unread postby xcrosswitch » Thu Jan 16, 2014 10:32 pm

Hi Everybody,
I have been working on scenarios for Pacific Surliner all week. It is a cloned and renamed copy of the original route.
I start with a path from A to B then clone the scenario and add eye candy, then clone again and add AI traffic.
I'm using the BNSF ES44AC along with the ES44AC Black and the EMD SD70ACe DRGW for motive power and the HUD has been the standard throotle, reverser lever etc. Anyway, out of the blue, on my final working copy of the scenario,
my HUD changes to the multi purpose Throttle/Brake lever and an arrow icon for the reverser. I can't remember ever seeing this HUD even in a Dash 9.
Has anybody experienced this weird changeover and can I get my original HUD back again? It's not that I mind the new version but the sensitivity to keyboard
control is as subtle as a brick on the big toe and I keep coupling up at too high a speed because it's changes in large increments and is difficult to get the throttle to zero.
As yet I have not verified files etc but did a cache clean when I had this crop up.
There seems to be a new surprise every week with this sim.

That sounds to me like the difference between Simple (multi-purpose) and Expert control setting. Maybe that setting somehow got changed? **!!2cents!!**

Hi Chris,
Controls were set to simple and I changed them to Expert, cleared cache and restarted scenario but unfortunately no change. I have no dynamic brake controls that I can see so it will make Cumbres to Sorrento interesting.

Cheers,

Actually, with simple controls, the throttle goes into the minus, which is dynamics.

I guess what I was asking, is there a setting in the scenario editor that sets up the player train for either Expert or Simple? Or so the player can choose which they want to run? I always flip the in-game setting to expert, not all motive power likes that tho. I have run across a few engines that are simple controls only, and a few expert only, but most seem to allow both modes.

Chris - the scenario marker has three check boxes at the bottom of the marker flyout when you double-click it. First forces simple controls, second forces expert, and third forces in-cab view at scenario startup.
Hope this helps!

Hi Marc and all,
You've cracked it Marc. I double clicked the marker and ticked the middle box and now I have the controls back to expert. Thanks for the tips.
