New computer and railworks might be having a feud

Unread postby CSXK921 » Wed Dec 25, 2013 3:23 pm

ok i got a new laptop for xmas and my brother got the same model. we just installed the files onto our new computers. my brothers finished installing and we opened it. as soon as we double-clicked the rw icon on his desktop a window poped up saying " Saved dump file to 'C:\TempDump\TS2014-v39.3a.dmp' ". i told him to verify the game cache and went to test the game on my computer. **!!bang!!** the same thing occurred on my laptop.at that time i went to the controll pannel and compared the specs of my computer and i met and for some, surpassed the minimum requirements that are on the TS2014 website. **!!bang!!** i have no idea why it dosent like my computer but our computers should run railworks verry well. so i am asking if annyone has had or is having the same and/or fixed the problem how they fixed it or if annyone can help me fix this problem. thanks in advance, CSXK921.

Right now the Steam server is offline so you aren't going to get anything fixed right now. Verifying your installation is the first thing for sure. It almost always takes a couple of run thru's to get all the files in busy times.

It could be whatever security software is running. Did you try disabling the anti virus etc and see if it will run?
The free software that comes with those things is usually junk, unless it's actually from Microsoft themselves.
Make sure Railworks.exe is in the exceptions lists. Like in your anti virus, firewall.
Make sure you don't have multiple security running.

For me, Steam just came back on line about 20 minutes ago. Try verifying files again. Delete one of the files in the Railworks folder (one you don't care too much about) see if Steam reaquires it.

The other thing, to me anyways, is how did you both transfer files from the old PC to the new one? There may have been files in use that couldn't be transferred, like Windows or some of it's "dependencies".

If you still have files intact on the old PC's there may be a way to get the new ones up and running, but, you may also have to reinstall Steam, then all your games, including TS2014. *!sad!*

Just trying to get a handle on where we are starting from. Did you install everything from scratch on your new computer or did you transfer stuff? is it win7 or 8?

CSK
We really need your computer specs and BTW the latest RECOMMENDED hardware settings are in section 13 of the user manual!
This is the info we need:
What is your operating system 32 or 64-bit and which Windows version:
Processor or cpu model no:
Physical RAM installed
Hard Drive size and free space when last defragmented (not if it is an SSD)
Video card model and VRAM
Monitor size and resolution
All this can be found: Windows + R key type in msinfo32 and press enter. the above info is all there or use a free ap called "Speccy".
Regards
