File Library Upload Not Working? ("not a valid file type")

Unread postby GreatNortherner » Mon Oct 07, 2013 1:58 pm

Hi,

I've been trying to upload a couple of files to te F/L for two days now, but always get the same error:

Code: Select all
(1960-EssexPit.rar)
That is not a valid file type (application/rar) or file size too big!
  [Unknown upload error]

The files in question are around 500kB, and were packaged with the same WinRAR tool that I've been using for years. I also tried ZIP, but then the file library told me that it wasn't "a valid file type (application/zip)".

Can anybody else upload to the file library as usual?

Anyone got ideas what might be wrong? Do I need a new packing program?

Thanks!
Michael

Most likely due to too many people posting too many things and downloading too many things at the time you are trying to upload. I got two uploads yesterday and 2 the day before, RAR, ZIP and 7z. You should be able to upload 200 meg files also. PHP wwont go any higher than that.

There are times when I see over 400 people on the web site, cant do anything then, barely read the forums. I think I may be going to a dedicated server, I have to evaluate the costs. If I can get a decent deal it will most likely happen.

Hi Bob,

Thanks very much for the quick reply. I had no idea RWA had become so popular! !*salute*!
I'll the upload try again in the morning hours my local time, most of you should be asleep then and traffic should be lower. !*cheers*!

I posted the Montour route the 5th and it has 300 downloads already. The little blirb about us in the TS2014 Credits page is most likely the culprit ;) It Is turning into a run away train !**duh*!!

Hi,

I've got an update, I've been able to add the files. Apparently it was my Firefox (or a setting or something I installed in my FF) that caused this. I switched to IE for those two uploads and they worked just fine.

Cheers,
Michael

Michael, not trying to hyjack your thread but... maybe taking a siding for a moment :D

Bob it was nice to see that little comment about the members of Rail Works America in the TS 2014 credits. It's also nice to see the members of RSC stopping in from time to time to answer questions and give us updates on current and up coming projects. !!*ok*!!

Thank You, IE worked for me too.

IE saves the day!
Wow, not often I get to say that. !*YAAA*!

This is ironic, since I was just telling someone over at our Steam forum, that you should always keep IE on the computer because it will sometimes work when other browsers won't.
