Sanford & Son special. Looks like a Cleburne F3 / F7 rebuild by the frame. What ever it is, it is not running. Crankcase box is opened up. Or it IS running and BROKE!

Actauly the picture that came after it told more. That exavator you see is actualy scraping it apart.

Also the picture reminds me of my photo safari in Kenya: partly dismantled gnu carcasses being cleaned out by vultures and hyenas.

Now that I have seen it on my monitor at home, I can tell you exactly what the photo is of. A Columbus & Greenville CF7. The picture was shot at the Columbus MS yard. You can just barely see the turntable pit and track to the lower right. When I saw your post I looked at it at the house, and I can see the chain rigged around something. Not too far from where I live and I have been there many times.

First time I ever heard about CF7s.
They were ugly as hell, so I will mourn the loss of the original F7s instead...

The frame is a dead give away for a CF7. Short lines have gobbled them up like nobodies business. Cheap and parts readily available for them. The thing that stands out about the CF7 program is that it has extended the lives of some of those locomotives to 60 years in some cases.
