I was shocked to learn this. In 1996, Wisconsin Central; yeah, the one of America, purchased the 3 companies; Transrail, Loadhaul, and Mainline Freight, of the United Kingdom, to create the English, Welsh and Scottish Railway?! I would have not known this if it weren't for RSAdam's Transrail profile picture. You see, you learn stuff everyday!

Gotta love the WC! I remember seeing a European or Aussie unit somewhere on the internet and can remember thinking "hey, thats WC maroon and mustard!", did a little research and sure enough, the WC was all over the place ;) Gosh do I miss it!

There's only so many characters allowed for a title. The replies add the RE: which helps that long title exceed the character limit.

In all fairness, EWS does have the Maroon/Yellow colors of the WC.

"Did", obviously... DB ( yes, the germans ) bought out EWS a couple of years ago, or we might have been painting everything CN colours. Thankfully they've not gone about painting everything retina-burning bright red yet.

I'm surprised First group hasn't got into NA commuter rail yet, but I guess it's mostly subsidised?
