In the race to reduce emissions and fuel costs Canadian National in conjunction with Knoxville Locomotive Works developed this Hybrid unit. Up to a 50% reduction in fuel use is achieved with 2.4MWh battery-diesel prime mover that can run on 100% bio-diesel. These will be used in yard and switching applications. Credit: Trains Magazine
