Just was curious about this, but how many of you have any O-gauge/O-scale trains? Either from Lionel, MTH, Atlas, K-line, Weaver, Williams, Menards, and everything in between. I have a few items, but all are pre-2010s and most are from lionel.

No, I used to have a lot of HO stuff, but in O gauge I had only a Lionel F-something engine.

HO has been a main thing for awhile but O is something I'd rather do and have a lot more of. I have a few postwar freight cars with some other MPC cars and some more modern ones. I do have a sealed lionel conventional classics NYC F3 set, and a reproduction lionel pennsy B6SB (Although I have a lot more items than just those).

I always check Menards o-scale section when I am in the US.

Plenty of scenery, buildings, rolling stoch and more is available.

But never ever have I seen locomotives for sale at Menards.

Any idea why they don't sell those, or have a super limited stock that is always sold-out ?

Maybe the cost of stocking. You could buy a small car for the price of some of the O gauge locomotives. I used to have a Hobby shop and stocked a few (bought for me as much for sale) didn't make any money but I had a hell of a lot of fun.

I miss hobby shops. The trains, the models, the tiny paint bottles.
Do they still exist?

Hobby stores are definitely still plentiful, they’re just not as common as they used to be. I actually have this large old lionel clock that used to be in my grandfathers train store.

Probably some of the most iconic model trains ever.
