All,
Today in Collegedale Tennessee, home of "Little Debbie" snack cakes, in fact this was right in front of the plant. A contractor hauling a bridge beam across Norfolk Southern's Atlanta to Chattanooga mainline didn't make it across.
You will have to unmute the video, likely....

If you watch closely in the video you can see the bottom of the beam splitting the ties/rail out in front of the locomotives. Nothing anyone could've done in the moment. Poor planning on the part of the truck.

Thank you TNTrainer for sharing. What a mess! I am very glad no one was seriously injured.

A railroader's worst nightmare, only to be surpassed by hitting a tanker truck. Glad to hear the crew wasn't seriously injured.

All,
A nice follow-up on this thread. You get to see what the bridge beam was all about and the clean up procedures being engaged in to put things back to normal.
