PapaXpress and TVRRMAN: thanks for the advice, guys; I have the payware version that I got at the BLLW site. I'll try the steps that you mentioned and see what happens...I will try to get them uploaded here in the file library when they're done, it's just a matter of getting the time to finish them!

Thanks again,

I know this is an old topic, but I recently did some repaints of the Bay Window caboose and I'm now getting the "broken consist" errors previously mentioned. Does anyone recall or know the fix that was done on these models to cure that? I bought these back in 2017 if memory serves, so I would have thought the error was corrected by then? I suppose I can always buy these again, but I'd hate to do that only to find the error is still there. Thanks in advance.

Without reading four pages of gunk since you now hold the record for posting on the oldest dead thread let me just say that if you are getting broken consist error your bin file is looking at something that isn't there probably. That's usually what causes that message.

Thanks Buzz for getting back to me. I'll go over the bin and see what I can find. I included a couple optional components from the bay window caboose kit, and that is what seems to have started the errors. Unfortunately, deleting the child from the bin file doesn't correct the problem for me. Ah well. I'll keep fiddling. Maybe someone else will find this post and know what exactly is causing this. Thanks again Buzz.

If you want to send me the bin I'll see if it loads or what the issue might be. I have done several repaints of this puppy and have a whole lot of other ones.

UPDATE
With help and support from Buzz, I was able to get error free bay window cabs. As stated way back when, using any additional fittings other than Detail01 (roof walk) will get you an error message. I fiddled around with the TVRR version bin which sports an error free roof walk. I copied over the Fittings file over from TVRR and overwrote everything in my repaint version. Then I copied the code for Details01 from the TVRR bin file and inserted that below the brake system child on my bin file. Part or all of the problem I had with previous attempts may have had something to do with the placement of the Detail01 child being placed above the brake system child as the child id number for the roof walk is higher than the brake's. I don't know how much TS pays attention to such things, but keeping the id numbers in sequential order works for me. There may also be an error in the repaint kit's fittings code, but I haven't looked into that one yet. It's entirely possible copying that code would work fine. I just haven't tested it. For what its worth, the marker lights can be changed without causing any problems. But the other optional details all seem to be incorrectly looking for a bogie texture which keeps those particular fittings from appearing on the caboose anyway.

So that's the fix in a nut shell for anyone dealing with this issue now or in the future.
